SENIOR LAMINATOR – HAMPSHIRE, SOUTH, UK

JOB DESCRIPTION

Main purpose of Role

Our client is seeking a qualified composites shop supervisor.
This role is for a hands-on person with attention to detail and excellent people skills. The first task of this role will be to quickly learn and understand the processes used in composite mast production. The supervisor will help refine and improve the production processes, equipment, tools and personnel in order to create an efficient, organised and lean factory. The supervisor will work hands-on alongside the production personnel to ensure that all targets are met.

Tasks and responsibilities

• Management of shop floor personnel
• Assigning daily tasks to shop floor personnel to meet weekly production targets
• Work closely with production manager to forecast completion dates
• Encourage and provide development and training for shop floor personnel
• Hands-on composite manufacturing
• Composites component manufacture and fit. Bond prep, dry fitting, hand working parts to fit, wet layup and pre-preg layup
• Requires the ability to follow complex processes
• Key Requirements

• Experience as a department head or supervisor
• Attention to detail and continual development

• Hands on experience in manual manufacturing setting

Our client, a leading yacht and dinghy mast maker, has an opportunity for an experienced Laminator to join their busy production team.

They require a hardworking individual to take an active role within the carbon production bay in the manufacture of high performance carbon fibre yacht and dinghy spars.

Extensive experience of composite production methods and techniques preferably from the marine industry, including pre-preg layup, component manufacture, resin infusion & mould making.

Full training in our client’s product will be given.
Knowledge of sailing preferred but not essential.

TECHNICAL EXECUTIVE – £28,000pa - SURREY, UK

JOB DESCRIPTION

Our client is a leading organisation within the leisure marine, Superyacht and small commercial sectors.
They are currently seeking a Technical Executive to work within their team to provide expertise, guidance and effective lobbying on technical and environmental issues to support the UK Leisure, Superyacht and Small Commercial Marine Industry. The successful candidate will report to the Technical Director and require a broad technical knowledge of the industry and legislative framework, notably the Recreational Craft Directive, ISO Standards and MCA Codes.

To fulfil the key aspects of the role, you will require a degree in a technical or engineering discipline, or equivalent experience. Membership of a professional institution such as RINA, IMarEST etc. would be considered an advantage. 

The position will involve direct contact with member companies, Government Agencies, national committees and International Working Groups, so a confident communicator with good presentational and negotiating skills is required.

In addition, the position will require the drafting of articles to the Technical Report, updates to our client’s Website and running training courses as required.

A degree of travel within the EU should be expected.

SALARY

 Immediate start.  Permanent Position. Salary dependent on experience but  £20,000 +.  6 months based in Cowes (Isle of Wight) and 6 months in the Caribbean.
