We have a fantastic opportunity for a bright and enthusiastic individual with a keen interest in sailing to join our global Product Management team.
The role is wide-ranging and includes product training, technical support and lifecycle management tasks related to your assigned products. As a member of the Product Management team you will have close involvement in the development, validation and lifecycle management of your products.
Role
Reporting to the Product Line Director, this role would suit a candidate with a technical background and a keen interest in sailing. You can expect to be involved in the following:
Developing a broad understanding of products and their application
Supporting regional Technical Support teams, you will act as the liaison with R&D teams to solve product issues
Providing end customer support in cases where Technical Support are unable to provide a solution
Close involvement in the Product Development process, from concept and specification to validation testing, including sea-trials
Development and delivery of product training programs
Sales support, including some exhibition work
Product lifecycle management tasks
Who We're Looking For
The successful candidate should possess:
sailing experience
a technical background, ideally a degree (or equivalent) in a relevant discipline
good communication and organisation skills
good IT literacy, especially Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint

Our company is involved with the management of large yachts over 50 metres. We also provide technical support during construction and provide consultancy on yacht and related projects. We are a small but expanding company, based in central Southampton.
MAIN AIM/ PURPOSE:
To assist the Operations Support Officer in ensuring that the megayachts and their crews operated by the company are certificated in accordance with the appropriate requirements.
MAIN TASKS:
After suitable training, responsible to the Operations Support Officer for, but not limited to, the following:
Maintaining the database of ship's certificates for each yacht, highlighting when surveys are becoming due.
Maintaining the database of crew certificates for each yacht, highlighting when certificates are becoming due to be renewed as appropriate.
Assisting with verifying that new crew have the appropriate certificates and assisting with arranging seaman's books, endorsements or other crew related certificates, including following up applications to the Administration.
Verifying receipt of monthly report returns; following up missing items; reconciling any queries.
Maintaining the Contingency Plan/ SOPEPs of the managed yachts and the office Contingency Plan and arranging up to date International Maritime Organization (IMO) contacts list to be sent to each yacht.
Maintaining the office hard copies of the Safety Management Manual (SMM) Parts A, SMM Parts B and Contingency Plans/ SOPEPS for all the yachts up to date.
Assisting with drafting of new Contingency Plans/ SOPEPs, training manuals, SMMs and other documents as required.
Ensuring that the content, format and presentation of all documents being sent to clients are of sufficient high quality before transmittal.
Maintaining the web site technical content, including the 'scrolling text'.
Ensuring the server folders' content is tidy, up to date and old documents removed. Keeping archive folders tidy.
Assisting with the maintenance of drawings and technical publications.
Assisting with the preparation and arrangement of mail/ stores being sent to yachts.
Carrying out research and producing reports when requested.
Answering and responding to telephone calls and emails as required.
Being a member of the emergency team in case of need. Participating in emergency drills and training.
Providing cover for the Operations Support Officer when he is on leave/ absent.
Maintaining clear records of activities as required.
EXPERIENCE/KNOWLEDGE:
Knowledge of the marine industry including the principles of how commercial vessels are regulated.
Strong computer literacy - Microsoft Word, Excel.
Good eye for detail and able to provide high quality of presentation in produced documents.
Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
Has the right to work and live in the UK.
EDUCATION/ TRAINING:
Educated to A Level standard as minimum
Merchant Navy/ large yacht deck officer qualifications preferred.

Annual Holiday - month of August to include return flights. In addition the Academy closes for Christmas, New Year and Easter Day All residency, sponsorship fees, etc. are covered by the Academy.

Develop a strong working relationship with the allocated Distributors, maximizing their sales effort and 'mind share' for Oceanair, maintaining a pro-active business for the Distributor.
Take sales ownership of all allocated accounts, coordinating all aspects of the selling process.
Manage a territory sales person to deliver on goals, achieving a consistent and professional message in line with the whole Distributor network.
Work with Sales Director to develop a sales strategy for each account.
Deliver a bi-annual Distributor Conference and plan and deliver an annual training seminar.
Conduct regular visits, carrying out relevant sales training.
Present quarterly forecast updates for each account.
Work closely with your account support team to maintain the highest service level.
Maintain a database of all new boat projects and quotes.
Working with OA's Marketing Manager, maximize Distributor marketing engagement.
Project Management/Super Yacht Business
Manage the database of all super yacht projects.
Take sales ownership of each allocated project, coordinating all aspects of the selling/commercial process.
Work with the relevant Project Support, to aid the servicing of each project.
Offer a high level of technical management to the projects, liaising directly with the key influencers and customers to maximise Oceanair's opportunity.
