Royal Varuna Yacht Club is Thailand’s Premier International Yacht Club located on the Eastern Seaboard near Pattaya, one and a half hours from Bangkok.

The club has world class facilities and infrastructure to support sailing in the Gulf of Thailand, such as regular international racing events and on-site sailing school, in addition to supporting a large membership base.
The Sailing School serves members and guests, both Expatriates and Thai Nationals including partnerships with International Schools and Sailing Teams. There is a junior program starting from beginners to the ‘racing team’ whom compete at International events. The club is progressing to become and accredited Training Centre.


Royal Varuna Yacht Club are looking to employ Sailing Instructors, people who are versatile and professional to join the existing team. The key responsibility is to delivering training programs and courses ensuring high standards are met, supporting events such as International Championships and everyday management of resources. It’s an exciting opportunity for an
enthusiastic person working in a growing establishment.

The positions are for an initial six months contract starting in September or October with the view to extend further.

Main duties/responsibilities:

  • Delivering sailing tuition to members and guests.
  • To held continuously develop the RVYC Sailing Program with innovative ideas.

This role is to develop an existing watersports company further to put it at the forefront of the Chinese sailing industry. The position will involve creating a business strategy, managing a team to deliver the strategy and developing the Chinese sailing market.

The Chief Executive Officer will oversee the management of our clients multiple sailing centres with member’s services, sail training, corporate events, school trips and summer camps. They will develop further business through widening user groups, expanding marketing reach and developing new products.


Strategy. Define the strategy and business plan and agree with the Board, implement metrics to monitor the success of the strategy and business plan, motivate and lead the staff to deliver the strategy and business plan.  Redefine the strategy and business plan in light of the metrics and new ideas.

PR, Marketing & Sales. Take responsibility for the PR, marketing & sales staff to ensure that sales targets are met. Implement metrics to monitor the success of the sales & marketing strategy. Implement PR and marketing initiatives to generating the leads and sales.  Personally own a sales target (probably focussed on the ex-pat community) as well as being responsible for major sales to the ex-pat community.  Attend networking events to drive business development.  Run regular sales meeting and carry out regular review of an individual’s sales pipeline.

Delivery. Take responsibility for the safe delivery of sailing, ensure all sailbases are run to international standards, have proper documentation and procedures in place. Implement processes to co-ordinate sales with delivery. Be responsible for the delivery of some aspect of sailing tuition.

HR. Identify the staff requirements to deliver the strategy, ensure that each member of staff fits the role for which they are assigned, understand what they must do, how and when.  Be responsible for hiring and firing of staff, ensure performance reviews are carried out and that staff are set stretch targets, ensure continuous education for all staff, ensure all staff have contracts, KPIs & clear direction.

Finance. Be responsible for the statutory and management accounts, ensure that they are prepared and reported in an accurately and in a timely fashion, manage costs down appropriately.

Customer.  Responsible for the customer experience.  Ensure that the customer experience is measured and factored into staff KPIs.
Report progress to the board and attend to other duties as directed by The Board, such as investigating new business opportunities
