A small marine engineering service company are looking for a marine mechanic/ fitter to join the growing workforce. 

The role will suit a well-motivated person, who is able to work alone and solve practical problems. He or she will enjoy working with customers and other fitters, have an affinity for mechanical things and enjoy making boats and engines work. Own car and hand tools are essential.

The position may be extended or become permanent, depending on workload and the successful candidate’s suitability.

 Main responsibilities:

·      Overhaul and service customer’s inboard and outboard engines, gearboxes and stern drives

·      Diagnose engine problems, fit new parts and test

·      Rebuild engines when required

·      Fit out boats or adjust the fit-out, as required by customers

·      Keep accurate records of work done
Requirements
The successful candidate will have experience servicing and rebuilding marine inboard and outboard engines, diagnosing engine faults and rebuilding carburettors, gearboxes and stern drives. They will be computer literate, hold a UK driving licence and have their own vehicle. The ability to work as part of a team and alone is essential, as is the need for effective time management. Ideally they will hold a Mercury Passport.
Advantages
It would be an advantage to have experience installing new powertrains in bare hulls, fitting out RIBs, building or repairing GRP, welding or boat electrics. Workshop experience and making parts to drawings would also be an advantage. Powerboat qualifications or HNC/NVQ in marine engineering would be an advantage.

The Andrew Simpson Sailing Centre is looking for a race coach to help maintain and develop a high quality race training program in various classes.  The successful candidate will work with the RYA and class associations to develop class specific training from transitional through to high level boat specific coaching. Another key part of the role will be to help develop the current race club by increasing participation and delivering quality sessions afloat. 
 
Duties and Responsibilities (but not limited to):
Deliver high level coaching to the majority of the courses within the race program as well as help with developing staff to enable them to deliver parts of the program. 
Develop the race club within the centre to grow the participation at all levels.
Identify candidates from the club that would be suitable for regional and national events and provide a pathway for them to reach set goals.
Help transition students from our intro sessions into club sailors. 
Work with the RYA and class associations to create transitional training opportunities in several classes.
With help from the organisation develop working relationships with guest coaches such as national class coaches and professional sailors to offer class specific open coaching weekends.
Train and take club sailors to events such as NSSA regattas. Develop plans in order to create successful teams going to events.
 
Qualifications and Experience:
 
Essential;
RYA Race Coach Level 2 or above
Race coaching experience at club level or above
Coaching experience in different classes
Valid 1st Aid
Computer literacy with Word, Excel and Outlook        
 
Desirable;

The role:
To oversee and work within Tresco Harbour and other quays to ensure this busy operational quay is welcoming, fully functional and compliant to Health and Safety standards for all commercial and pleasure boating.  To operate harbour patrols, mooring fee collection and maintenance of moorings, harbour boats & Bosun duties between Tresco & Hell Bay Hotel and Bosun to the Dorrien-Smith Family.  
 
Tresco:
Is a beautiful island situated within the Isles of Scilly which is 28 miles off the coast of Cornwall.  The island is famous for it sub-tropical Abbey Garden, glorious beaches and excellent accommodation and eateries.
 
Key Duties:
Responsible for the safe operation of Tresco Harbours and quays
Work with the designated manager to ensure that voluntary compliance with the Marine Safety Code is maintained.
Collection of harbour fees from visiting yachts, allocation of moorings maintaining daily logs and cash receipts.  
To maintain the navigation of the channel & harbours 
Boson duties between Tresco & Hell Bay Hotel and Bosun to the Dorrien-Smith Family.
To keep the Harbours, quays, and the associated land environment forming part of Tresco Estate free of pollution and litter and to protect the landscape
To maintain and manage all Tresco harbour moorings to agreed standards and to ensure maximum income is collected from all Harbour activities.
To organise the repair and servicing of all mooring tackle as required. 
To maintain all company harbour boats in a safe and effective condition, and to skipper or ensure suitably qualified people to skipper all craft as well as assisting visiting craft.
Supervise and control safe working environment for the movement of freight on the quays, the visiting day boats and Tresco Estate guests.
 
The ideal candidate will have;
Experience of marine safety and harbour operations.
High level of both written and verbal communication skills.
Full Driving Licence
Good boat handling and marine navigation skills with RYA or equivalent certification. (Commercial endorsement preferred)
General boat and outboard maintenance skills. Working knowledge of moorings, ropes, chains and ability to splice.
Physically fit and able to work afloat in demanding and potentially hazardous conditions.
Willingness to work outside normal working hours including weekends.

My client is a very well established marine vessel operator who is looking for an experience Electrical Engineer to work on the constant maintenance of the diesel engines of their vessel. The ideal candidate will have an excellent electrical engineering experience preferably in the marine industry. This positions is a night shift with 4 nights on and 4 nights off.   
 
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:       
 
1.  To oversee the day to day maintenance and servicing of all vessels
2.  To service and maintain all electrical systems on board vessels
3.  Ensure all faults and repairs are logged and reported.
4.  Ensure that any work carried out is fully reported
5.  Adhere to all Health and Safety regulations
 
                        
MAIN ACTIVITIES:
 
o   To ensure that all  vessels electrical systems are fully safety checked in line with the company and statutory legislation.  This includes all ships alarms.
o   Ensure all crafts are kept in service wherever possible, by ensuring effective and efficient maintenance is carried out at all times by prioritizing maintenance and where possible, carrying this out during down time.
o   To assist the Engineers with mechanical maintenance where appropriate.
o   To undertake all electrical repairs to the vessels whilst they are being serviced.
o   Carry out planned, preventative maintenance on vessels as instructed by the Chief Engineer and / or the Mechanical and Technical Director of Engineering.
o   Ensure that the correct uniform and safety equipment provided is worn at all times.
o   Ensure that all equipment used is kept clean and replaced at the end of shift, to ensure all teams have access to the correct equipment to be used.
o   Work as part of a full engineering team, ensuring that all work carried out is reported to the Chief Engineer and / or the Mechanical and Technical Director of Engineering.
o   Ensure and maintain a safe and tidy working environment for the individual and the wider team.
o   Assist in developing and maintaining effective team work within departments and offices of AEG worldwide
o   Provide and promote the highest level of customer service

GENERAL REQUIREMENTS OF THE ROLE
 
To offer and supply new boat packages for loose equipment, including equipment spares, galley equipment, tools and much more.
To respond to general enquiries in a timely fashion, offering both technical support and a parts service.
Place purchase orders with suppliers to meet owner’s requirements, you will need to be commercially aware at all times.
To collect payment for any order prior to despatch.
To work with the accounts team to ensure a smooth flow of invoicing through the accounts system
To work with all departments and suppliers in order to provide owners with best advice 
To update the Customer Service database with relevant service/supplier information and keep all team members informed of changes or additions to useful information
To work closely with the Wroxham based Customer Service and After Sales team
Liaise with other departments within the company to maximize opportunities for the whole group
To work at boat shows as required
To be a valued member of the Customer Service team and undertake any other duties that may  assist the department, Oyster Marine and the Oyster Group
