Golden Arrow Marine is a specialist marine power, systems and equipment supplier and service provider and is part of the Salterns Marina Ltd group. We are UK distributors for TRAC stabilisers, thrusters and hydraulic systems, Maxwell windlasses and Humphree Interceptors together with being a Volvo Penta Centre and main dealer for MAN and Perkins engines, ZF and PRM gearboxes, Kohler and Northern Lights generators and Torqeedo electric and hybrid propulsion. Our customer base is broad ranging from individual boat owners and operators to major UK boat builders, UK MoD and international shipping lines.
 
We currently have vacancies based at our Southampton and Portsmouth branches for qualified Marine Engineers to carry out service, diagnostic, repair, overhaul and installation work on site and at our workshops . To be considered for this position you must have completed a Marine Engineering Apprenticeship to level 3 and ideally attended manufacturer training courses provided by industry leaders such as Volvo Penta, MAN, Perkins and Yanmar. You will require experience of equipment and systems on boats of up to 40m and ideally of the engine and gearbox brands we represent. You must have excellent problem solving and diagnostic capabilities together with knowledge of marine electrics, engine management systems and general boat systems. You must work to the highest standards un-supervised and take responsibility for your work, an uncompromising approach to quality of work and customer satisfaction is required.
 
You must ideally reside local to our Southampton and Portsmouth branches which will be the main place of work, although operating from other branches may be required. The job is based mainly along the South coast, however when required travel within the UK and overseas with nights away is a requirement for this position. 
Salary

This role will be based at Oyster Yachts Wroxham and will report to the Lead Designer (Wroxham).  As part of the design team you will be involved with all aspects of the production design engineering but specialise in the electrical systems.  You will assist other members of the design and electrical teams plus liaise with various departments as and when required.
PRINCIPLE JOB RESPONSIBILITIES 
To produce detailed electrical schematics and wiring schedules for production and ‘as built’ drawing packs.
To design parts and systems for new models and custom options for all boats
General requirements of the role
  • Be able to perform and work within a team of designers / naval architects in order to optimise the overall design.
  • Responsible for producing detailed technical drawings to enable the production yards and external contractors to efficiently produce the yacht.
  • Able to produce general fabrication drawings for production by third parties.
  • Have a clear understanding of marine systems used within yachts.
  • Capable of performing general engineering calculations.
  • Occasional travel between yards and manufacturing sites.
  • Collating and organising information for the use of the electrical department
  • Designing marine electrical circuits to accommodate optional extras to the standard vessel
  • Create electrical drawings to an excellent standard
  • Creating and updating electrical wiring schedules
  • Creating and updating component parts lists for purchasing
  • Assisting in testing and commissioning of electrical systems to ensure correct installation
  • Ensuring compliance with the relevant ISO/IEC standards
  • Collating information for the ‘as built’ drawing packs
Skills and Abilities
  • An understanding of DC and AC electrical systems and willingness to become expert
  • Previous experience with marine electrical systems would be very beneficial
  • Capable user of AutoCAD.  3D CAD experience would be an advantage
  • Proficient with Excel spreadsheets
  • Good communication and written presentation skills
  • Excellent attention to detail and the ability to work to demanding schedules

The ideal candidate will be able to manage their own personal business portfolio with a view to developing existing and new customers.  You will have a sound grasp of the product/service mix, pricing and margins and an appreciation of the correct use of CRM systems.

In turn, Sunseeker International are now looking to recruit a Design Draughtsperson with a mechanical/systems bias to join the team, based out of the Technology Centre in Poole. 
Reporting the heads of Design and Naval Architecture, your role will involve modelling and completing production drawings for a range of components and sub assemblies, including engine bay and associated machinery, accommodation systems and more. You'll be working within a small and effective team of individuals to ensure that the work of the main design team is translated for the production floor to build. Furthermore, you will need to able to correctly index the various works you do for future reference. 
In order to be considered for this role you will need to possess skills within 3D/2D design softwares, ideally Siemens NX and Autocad. A technical mindset and hard working ethic are also key to your success!

In turn, Sunseeker International are now looking to recruit a Naval Architect with a focus on Composites to join the team, based out of the Technology Centre in Poole. 
Your main focus will be around the Composite Structural side of Naval Architecture. You'll work extensively with hull, deck and component modelling and calculations, ensuring that your work adheres to a number of criteria, to include:
– Classification (ISO, MCA, RINA, RCD)
– Cost – In line with Sunseeker budgetary requirements
– Performance – Economical, fast and spacious
– Testing – Incline testing, weight calculations and damage stability
You'll be modelling with both Siemens NX and Autocad in order to provide works to the production and design departments for draughting. The Naval Architecture team are a small but effective group of experts, so you'll need to be confident working in a team, giving your all in order to ensure that the whole team achieve in line with the Sunseeker 'Seek More' initiative.
