SAILING ASSISTANT - £6.00 ph - WEST SUSSEX, UK

JOB DESCRIPTION

A prestigious sailing club based in Chichester Harbour requires a Sailing Assistant to support the Club's sailing programme and assist in the on-water racing and training events.

Main duties:
To assist in providing support for Club sailing, training and racing events; to help maintain Club owned boats; operating the Club's launch to provide a ferry service to members boats; keeping the dinghy launching slipways safe and weed free; other minor maintenance tasks; assisting the Sailing Manager in running on-water coaching sessions.

Pre-requisites:
Essential:
1.  Physically fit, as some lifting and moving of heavy equipment is necessary.
2.  Practical experience of driving RIBs and/or small power boats 3.  Ability to work independently and as part of a team 4.  Ability to use own initiative.
5.  Cheerful and helpful demeanour.
6.  Must be able to swim at least 50 yards unaided.
7.  RYA Dinghy instructors Qualification

Desirable:
1.  RYA Level 2 Powerboat qualified.
2.  Some experience of sailboat racing &/or racing rules 3.  Some boat maintenance skills 4.  Lifting and handling skills.
5.  RYA Senior Instructor

SAILING ADMINISTRATOR - £15,000 - £16,000 PA - SOUTH, UK

Job Specification
We are looking for a keen and enthusiastic Administrator with sailing and racing experience to join the team.
This job would be ideal for someone with Administration skills who has a love of sailing.
This office based role is full time with two days off each week but hours are flexible depending on the needs of the business. Weekend working is normal. The Sailing Administrator reports to The Marine Manager and in turn the General Manager.

Person Specification:
Ability to get on well in a small team

Computer literate with knowledge of Sailwave & Dutyman.

Job Responsibilities:

For Club Racing:
.    Compile Duty Lists
.    Produce Sign on/off sheets
.    Flag sequences
.    Produce Results
.    Organise Race Officers equipment

For Open meetings &Championships: 
.    As above plus
.    Organising open meeting safety procedure, allocate tally numbers & produce tally packs , issue sailing instructions, trolley tags and any relevant information for the event.
.    Compile Entry Lists.
.    Mange the registration process.
.    Arrange Protest Committees - pull together a protest committee, supply protest information and change results if needed.

General :
.    Prize Giving - order prizes for each event, set up prize givings and provide all information to the person awarding the prizes.
.    Notice of Races - produce the NOR  and publish to the website and notice board.
.    Sailing Instructions - ensure that the sailing instructions have been written and published for each event.
.    Keep trophy book up to date and maintain trophy cabinet.
.    Management of Duty Man - software package
.    Organise duty allocations
.    Sailing Calendar - yearly and weekly update
.    Book in external training events. 
.    Minutes of meetings - to attend and produce minutes after meeting
.    Training Courses - Booking the courses and relevant administration.
.    Assist the Marine Manager with administrative tasks.

Other duties and responsibilities shared with all office staff:
.    Assist reception
.    Open and distribute post
.    Deal with everyday queries, by email, letters or in person.

SAIL LOFT MANAGER

Elvstrom Sobstad require a Sail Loft Manager to oversee the day to day running of our busy sail loft based on the river Hamble, you will be working with a small team of sailmakers which are already in place. The role requires the following but is not restricted to:

- Ordering and monitoring levels of stock
- Managing of the UK service and production log
- Prioritising works loads to ensure lead times are met
- Build on existing relationships with customers
- Source new customers

A successful candidate will be able to be hands on with production and finishing, therefore relevant sailmaking experience is essential which spans from dinghies to large yachts.

SAIL LASER SALES EXECUTIVE - DORSET, UK

The Sales Executive is the front line sales role of the Centre, responsible primarily for achieving the budgeted figures for boat sales, spares and boat rental revenues, and secondarily for achieving budgeted figures for course revenues at the Centre. Since many of our centres are shared with landlords / partners, the Sales Executive must work to ensure that retail issues are handled with the highest quality of customer service, so as not to negatively impact our landlord relationship.

SailLaser is part of LaserPerformance who steward some of sailing’s most recognised brands including Laser, Sunfish and Sailing World’s Boat of the Year – the Laser SB3. LaserPerformance has branches of SailLaser all over the world which provide many services including community programmes, sailing lessons, race training courses and boat demos so that LaserPerformance customers can try before they buy.

Specific Duties and Responsibilities:

Generates boat / spares sales from course clients and non-course clients, follows up on demonstrations and leads all retail marketing activity, including boat charter for major regattas
Attends boat shows when required and is an ambassador for SailLaser
Sells the complete range of Laser and Dart boats, spares and accessories
Manages for the timely turnover of the SailLaser fleet at profit
Manages the sales / marketing campaign to make prospective boat buyers aware of the new way of purchasing a boat from SailLaser
Trains the instructor team on the products and services SailLaser offers
Provides feedback on product performance, quality, and recommendations for changes
Manages the complete administration of all retail sales
Assists the Client Services Manager to run the office and sell courses
LaserPerformance’s direct point of contact for boat / spares sales
Coordinates boat / spares delivery and storage
Manages the JustSail Centre and records club membership, reservations, etc
Constantly communicates with the SailLaser Centre management team regarding:
Demonstrations booked
Boat deliveries
Rigging lessons / boat pick-up dates
Fleet boat sales
Boat hire
Fills in as Chief Instructor to teach courses when required
Reports on market sales trends

The ideal Candidate will have the following:

Three + years of sales experience
A basic knowledge of sailing
A passion for the position and the ability to work long hours / weekends
Previous P&L responsibility and the ability to work closely with budgets, planning and forecasting
Customer Service experience

SALARY

£19,000 p/a initially with a review after 6 months plus pension and bonus potential

RYA YACHTMASTER INSTRUCTOR - MUMBAI, INDIA

An opportunity exists for a dynamic RYA Senior Instructor with knowledge and ability to run the day to day activities of a busy Sailing School in Qatar – Position to start 01 September 2010. Must be a good communicator and administrator.

 a British private Sailing and Windsurfing School in 5* location.  The selected candidate would work with our General Manager and 3 other Instructors in the planning and execution of children’s afternoon activity classes as well as weekend adult courses  -  position would suit a dedicated person with experience.

As well as children’s activity classes and weekend adult teaching our sailing programme includes morning private tuition – ladies groups, couples and individuals.  Experienced children have race training on Saturdays with race coaching for adults on Fridays.    Currently our windsurfing programme is limited due to the current volume of sailing tuition.  The Academy also has two high performance yachts for teaching, team building and racing.

Position will be offered to the candidate showing a genuine interest in the development and expansion of the Regatta Sailing Academy - renewable contract to include excellent salary and accommodation; annual holiday -  month of August to include return flights.  In addition the Academy closes for  Christmas, New Year and Easter Day  All residency, sponsorship fees, health card,  etc. are covered by the Academy.

Hours of work are approximately eight hours per day with one day off per week and two-day weekend every 5 weeks.  During the period of shamals (strong winds) staff get extra time off but we operate a flexi system whereby staff are expected to help out during very busy periods.

RYA REGIONAL CLUB COACHES - UK

RYA Sport Development is looking to recruit a number of freelance Regional Club Coaches to increase adult participation in sailing and windsurfing.

Depending on availability and skills, each Regional Club Coach will be responsible for delivering training, creating sustainable development plans and encouraging participants through the RYA’s training and racing pathways.

The ideal candidate will have proven competence as a qualified coach/ instructor but also has experience of development within a club environment and be able to inspire sailors, parents and volunteer coaches alike. The coaches will be contracted by the RYA, with the support of additional Sport England funding, to work with a number of clubs and centres within specific RYA Regions (Thames Valley, London, South, South East, North East, Yorkshire and North West).

Successful applicants will be expected to take part in a full and comprehensive continuous development programme which will commence with initial training on the 10th/11th September 2009.
