DESIGN ENGINEER - £35,000 - £37,000PA - SOUTH, UK

JOB DESCRIPTION

Our client is currently looking for an individual to join their project team as a Design Engineer focusing on the generation of a 3D model and associated production drawings.​

For the right candidate this offers a fantastic opportunity to be involved as part of a team refurbishing a luxury motor yacht.

Responsibilities

Reporting to the Principal Naval Architect your main responsibilities will be to:

    Create an accurate and detailed 3D CAD model of the ship;
    Generate production drawings suitable for manufacture;
    Maintain configuration control of the drawing database;
    Assist in the production of guidance documents;

Characteristics and Experience

You will have a strong background in 3D CAD modeling using Autodesk Inventor.​

Operating within a small team you will take a pro-active and constructive approach to ensure the effective delivery of engineering.​

Ideally you will have experience in a ship refit or shipbuilding environment although candidates from other engineering backgrounds will be considered on merit.​

Ideally you will have experience of working with classification societies and /​ or regulatory bodies.​

DESIGN DRAUGHTSPERSON - £25,000 - £28,000pa - SOUTH, UK

JOB DESCRIPTION

Purpose of Job

To assist in the design and development of projects new and existing, from modelling components through to producing fully resolved drawings to be issued to production. 

Main Tasks

    To produce production drawings for various components and sub-assemblies for both new and existing projects, primarily using Unigraphics NX 3-D design software but also using Autocad 2-D as required.
    To model and draught all aspects of boat design including hull, deck and flybridge fittings and their respective sub-assemblies.  Ensuring that all work is carried out within drawing office procedures and protocols.
    To be able to communicate all design information clearly to others involved in the design and production of the project (working in liaison with the purchasing and planning departments).
    To be able to work on projects as part of a small and focused team as well as issuing design information to tight deadlines with minimum supervision where required.
    To produce drawings that are suitable for production, classification societies and formatted in such a way that they are suitable for owner’s manuals.
    To continually strive to develop personal skill and knowledge in all aspects of marine design, to enable future advancement in both personal ability, and future, larger products

Scope of the Role (Level of Decision Making and Problem Solving)

    Resolving various design problems and issuing information, in the form of drawings and other data, to the relevant department (ie. production/development)

    Planning department and buying department.
    The job holder will also be liaising dealing directly with all other parts of the design office (interiors, concept, engineering, etc), and the technical director.

Contacts outside Company

    Component supplier companies, for new product development.

Innovation and Creativity

    Discusses and puts forward ideas in order to satisfy design requirements.

Experience

    Experience of Design, Production / engineering using 3-D and 2-D design software.

Education/Training

    Would ideally suit a Design Engineer or Marine Engineer.
    Computer literacy is a requirement, with a sound knowledge of 3-D design software, AutoCAD 2-D design software and spreadsheet ability preferred.

This is an excellent opportunity to become a key contact in the Superyacht sector in Asia. As Superyacht Manager you will work alongside the Managing Director to build up the Superyacht side of the business, and set up a new office.

Key Responsibilities

    To maximize the sales of both new build and brokerage superyachts to clients within your agreed territory and – where agreed with the Managing Director – in other territories, achieving your monthly net profit targets and keeping overheads and expenses within budgeted limits.
    To build up and maintain a comprehensive contact list of clients, potential clients and trade intermediaries and suppliers and industry personnel and to maintain accurate records of the same and record all dealings with the same, in the company database (Dynamics) and appropriate files.
    To achieve Central Listings and Direct Listings of brokerage yachts to sell and ensure all the relevant data is accurately recorded and processed.
    To actively market and sell all stock boats, listed yachts and priority yachts as advised by the Company from time to time.
    To establish an effective working relationship with the service department teams in Hong Kong and China to ensure commissioning, handover and after-sales service for all new yachts are handled in a professional manner.
    To report the status of your new enquiries, sales achieved, sales negotiations in hand and other market, competitor and client intelligence in a weekly report to the Managing Director and in weekly sales meetings.

CHIEF OPERATING OFFICER – ASIA

The Requirement:
With the twin goals of growth in profitability, and consolidation of market leadership in the Asia Pacific region, you, as the Chief Operating Officer will play a major role in upgrading corporate performance standards, systems, image and results.

The short term objectives are to:

    Review the performance and future viability of offices and personnel throughout the Group and make recommendations to the MD for improvements.
    Review current marketing activities in all offices and make recommendations to the MD for improvements.
    Prepare a Business Plan – for raising the profile of the company, improving enquiry and follow-up levels and sales revenues; particularly in China.
    Implement a program of Sales and CRM training and office improvements to bring all offices in line with company standards and procedures.
    Establish stronger teamwork within and between offices.


The medium term objectives are to:

    Free the Managing Director from day-to-day administration so he can devote more time to concentrate on major deals and customers and the strategic development of the company.

The long term objectives are to:

    You will be expected to recruit (as necessary), coach and supervise a team of brokers who are sales oriented and focused, while building a more effective marketing system and an efficient back-office to support the business, providing consistently high standards in both physical services (such as commissioning and maintenance) and personal service (the manner of handling customers and developing referral sales and new introductions).
    You will be responsible for the day-to-day operations of the Group and will submit reports to the Managing Director on a regular basis (at least weekly) on the performance of the Group.
    You will be responsible for the achievement of Budgeted Sales Targets by all offices in the Group, while at the same time controlling expenses at all levels in order to achieve or exceed budgeted profits.
    You will make regular visits to all offices in the Group to ensure that the company’s standards and procedures are maintained and improved when appropriate.
    You will be responsible for ensuring that the website, brochures, newsletters, flyers and advertisements are of a high and consistent standard and will ensure that a common “image” format and quality is maintained in advertising and promotional material produced and used by all offices.
    You will be responsible for the marketing through Boat Shows, Launch Parties, Owners’ Days and other promotional events.
    You will be responsible for ensuring that our client has the facilities, systems and personnel to provide consistently reliable and efficient after-sales service in all sales regions.
