WATERSPORTS INSTRUCTOR - COWES, ISLE OF WIGHT

PROJECT MANAGER - £30K+ - EDINBURGH, SCOTLAND

JOB DESCRIPTION

A Project Manager is required in the Edinburgh (Scotland) area with strong competencies in software development and a fairly good understanding of structures and aerodynamics.  Working experience as project manager and knowledge of the marine industry are is preferred. Candidates must have good communication skills, be flexible and have a positive attitude.

Primary responsibilities are: (i) on time projects delivery, (ii) requirements capture in a timely and effective manner, (iii)  improve the efficiency of internal work flow when dealing with consultancy analysis projects.

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide work organizational leadership: project planning and supervision
• Ability to project manage multiple activities/tasks at the same time
• Ability to review technical reports in English for final approval
• Ability to assess the technical feasibility of new projects and plan required activities for new  products and/or custom version of existing products
• Active participation in the preparation of project proposals, including being capable to review/set  project specifications, time schedules and milestones
• Become the primary point of technical contact, both within our technical team and externally with prospective customers/partners.
• Ability to supervise and proactively support the software development processes, by co-ordinating the research team with the software development team
• Understanding of technical capabilities of SMAR Azure tools, and their application, including limitations, possible developments.

Basic Requirements:

The Parts Controller role is central to the company’s effectiveness. The role ensures jobs are completed on time by providing parts to the workshop and helping to keep control of the company’s profit and cash. This is done through the tight running of the stores and accurate capturing and recording of information relating to the movement and use of parts around the organisation.

Specific Responsibilities:

• Monitoring of stock levels

• Budget management
• Using company systems to keep items properly logged and correctly organised

The ideal candidate will have worked in a similar role before or be able to demonstrate:

Sailing Today is a monthly UK based sail cruising magazine for sailors who sail their boats, not just talk about it at the yacht club bar. Our new and used boat tests, step by step practical articles, detailed harbour guides and in-depth gear tests provide our loyal readership with the essential expert information they need to get the best out of their sailing. We are seeking a skilled yachting journalist to join our small hands-on team, based at Swanwick Marina on the River Hamble near Southampton.

As well as a proven track record in specialist writing, ideally in consumer magazines, the successful applicant will need to prove a long-standing interest in our subject matter. As a key player in a small team, this role would provide much variety for the successful applicant. Core responsibilities will be to write regular content such as harbour guides, the news section and various features, but dependent on experience and qualifications, you may also be called upon to perform a myriad of additional tasks, from driving photography boats to subbing and proof-reading copy to testing equipment or even yachts. For this reason the role would best suit somebody who has spent a reasonable length of time in and around cruising yachts, certainly for pleasure but perhaps vocationally too.
The role would suit somebody able to prove experience of working to tight deadlines and able to provide examples of published work relevant to this application.
The successful applicant will also need to have use of a car as various assignments will be to remote coastal areas not adequately served by public transport (for which expenses will be paid).

Based at our Southampton works this position is an exciting opportunity to join the team in our multi franchised marine engine and equipment parts department. Receiving customer enquiries by phone, over the counter and email this is a busy position.  This role covers all aspects of parts sales from taking initial enquiry, identification of correct part, picking parts or ordering from supplier through to final invoice. The emphasis is on sale of spare parts whilst consistently providing the highest level of customer service. Product knowledge of Perkins, Sabre, MAN, ZF & Volvo would be an advantage.
Stores management, stock taking, packing and dispatch are also key elements of this role. Counter balance fork lift operators license would be an advantage.
Computer literacy and able to learn new systems quickly along with good telephone manner and attention to detail is essential.
