An enthusiastic, motivated and competent Shipwright/Boat Builder with good communication skills and the ability to teach is required for our energetic and rewarding charity based in Deptford, South London.

The successful candidate will have proven experience within the marine construction industry and the ability to teach these skills to our young apprentices.

A teaching qualification is not essential. They will also be instrumental in building and maintaining Thames Watermen Cutter rowing boats for both the charity's fleet and commercial customers. 
Position would be suitable for either self-employed or part-time.

Applicants are required to have most of the following skills:

    Joinery and/or cabinet making
    Fibre glassing (desirable)
    Boat repairs - wood & fibreglass

Main duties include:

    Assisting with delivering our Marine Construction Apprenticeship programme
    Assisting with the build of Thames Watermen cutters
    Assisting Bosun & Maintenance Team when required

Our client is a well established passenger boat company based in London. They are now recruiting for a Tier 1 Level 2 Boat master, ideally with local knowledge to start IMMEDIATELY

Details of the position are below

  •     Full-time, permanent skipper required for Class V passenger/party vessels
  •     Weekend & evening work required, 5-6 days per week (40-60 hours per week).
  •     During the summer months you will be part of a team of 35/40 people and during the winters that number will reduce to 10/15 people
  •     You will be expected to have experience of driving similar vessels majority of which are traditional in style
  •     During the winter months the majority of the work is maintenance of the vessels, the major work is done at a separate dry dock with separate contractors but the small work is done in house.
  •     The successful individual will either have to live locally or be prepared to move to the local area.

Salary

£8,25 ph, OTE £22,000 - £24,000
