The ideal individual will come from a similar role elsewhere within the very large yacht industry, and be able to demonstrate a strong skillset across a range of engineering disciplines.

The position will be within the company's Technical and Consultancy team, assisting the department managing marina infrastructure construction projects and design of new marina developments.
 
This is a supporting role to a small professional team and includes project administration, project design, conceptual design of marinas, assisting on site surveys and working on feasibility studies.
 
MDL has a unique portfolio of 19 varied marinas and boatyards in the UK. MDL is also expanding internationally with several recent additions to its portfolio.
In recruiting for this position of Projects Assistant, MDL will be seeking an individual with a degree or other relevant qualification in a design or technical subject (e.g. Civil Engineering, Architecture, Oceanography). It is envisaged that this position will be ideally suited to a graduate with a technical and design bias and a passion for the marine leisure industry. Prior industry experience is not expected but would help to differentiate the applicant.
 
The position will be based at MDL's head office located at Hamble Point Marina, Hamble, Southampton, but will also require travel to all of the Groupa's 19 UK based sites and potentially other national and international deployment through MDL's consultancy business.

Role requirements:
  •  Sell the complete range of LaserPerformance Products with the focus of reaching and exceeding sales targets (units and margins) as set
  •   Responsible for Institutional, Fleet, Resort and direct accounts and sales goals, by channel or territory
  •   Prepare and deliver yearly budget and strategic plan for your area of the business
  •   Prepare and regularly update sales forecasts for all accounts
  •   At all times deliver best in class end-to-end customer service
  •   Complete all set yearly, monthly and weekly objectives
  •   Accurately maintain ERP system and customer information
  •   Provide training, demos and POS to customers as required
  •   Supporting RYA national and regional conferences in first quarter, with kit and presence, aiming to create sails opportunities for the future.
  •  Supporting London Youth Games, with spares and coaching support. Develop relationships within the individual London boroughs whilst at the event.
  •  Update LP social network pages with updates from events, conferences and visits
  •  Targeted and reactive visits and demo strategy
  •  Prepared to work weekends as required to fulfil the requirements of the role
 
Education, Skills and/or experience requirement:
  •  Three years of territory sales experience or three years of experience in the marine industry in a customer facing role.
  •  Confident Dinghy Sailor (RYA instructor endorsement preferred)
  •  Strong technical understanding of the company's products.
  •  Significant understanding of, experience with and involvement in organized sailing is an asset.
  •  Strong organizational and communication skills.
  •  A second language would be an advantage.
  •  Computer proficiency including Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and ERP systems.
  •   A full Valid UK Driving License (Towing endorsement preferred)
Salary – £20,000 – £26,000 per Annum. Company Pension. Mobile Phone & Laptop provided. 20 x Days Holiday per Annum
