SENIOR PROJECT MANAGER

Fox's Marina & Boatyard is a full service boatyard based on the River Orwell in Suffolk established in 1927. We offer full range of services from workshops, stainless fabrication, marine engineering, rigging and marine electronics. Until 2008 we were part of the Oyster Group and therefore enjoy an enviable list of Oyster yachts that we work on. We have a marina and one of the largest chandleries in the country.

We have a vacancy for a Senior Project Manager to monitor our yacht repair and refit work, optimise efficiency and build on our reputation for quality output. The role will involve liaising with customers on their requirements and overseeing the successful planning and execution of projects.

The successful applicant will have relevant knowledge and management experience within a boatyard or yacht building environment. He or she will have good people skills and will be highly organised. Previous project management and coordination experience is essential.

SENIOR PROJECT MANAGER

JOB DESCRIPTION  

Our client is established as a major refit yard, completing new builds; major refits and restoration works on a number of the large classic sailing and motor yachts.

They are recruiting for a senior project manager with significant experience in specialist refits and custom build yachts.

Having at least 5 years hands on project management experience overseeing complete refits from conception to completion you will have the ability and expertise to take on a variety of projects with little support. Working in the core management team you will be answering directly to the managing director.

You will have been involved in with various construction techniques; with a particular emphasis on wood and GRP.

You will be given total responsibility of all areas of the project including commercial aspects such as budgeting; cost control and liaising with the owner.

Ideally you will have local area knowledge of suppliers and contractors.

Key tasks include:

·       Running a project (building or re-building a yacht) from contact with the client

·       Planning the project

·       Purchasing materials

·       Organizing sub-contractors

·       Leading a team of directly employed men on the project

·       Progress and commercial success of each project

This can be an extremely demanding but rewarding job.

·       This position would suit someone with a background & familiarity with building or refitting yachts of up to 125ft and has already had experience of successfully running projects.

·       Discipline in mechanical or naval architecture would be ideal; however the right experience is key to success of this position.

·       Minimum of 5 years hands of project and man-management experience

·       10 years marine industry knowledge

SENIOR INSTRUCTOR

JOB DESCRIPTION

Reporting to the Watersports Manager, your main responsibilities will be to manage the delivery of RYA training courses and the development of an exciting new Sports Boat programme, utilizing the new fleet of J 80’s. This is to include race training, away days, and other corporate opportunities. You will also be expected to liaise on a regular basis with the University user groups to ensure a good working relationship is maintained. You will also work very closely with the other centre S.I’s assisting then in their role to provide outdoor education and recreation for groups within the education, youth and community sector, in line with the standards laid down by AALA the RYA and other National Governing Bodies. Centre S.I’s are expected to take on the role of Duty Manager on a rota basis.

The ideal candidate will have extensive industry knowledge. You will be given the opportunity to stamp your personality on the operation within a friendly, informal working environment. You will have effective training and supervisory skills and pay close attention to detail. You will be highly motivated and will have the skills to contribute to the development of the business. Working closely with centre bosun the post holder will have special responsibility for the resource management for the center’s Sailing & Powerboat fleet. This really is a fantastic opportunity to be involved with a national Watersports and adventurous activities centre that has not yet realised its full potential, but is moving ever closer to it.

With their main factory located in Dubai they also have a number of other factories, offices and ongoing current projects situated all over the globe making them a truly international leader in their field.

They are currently recruiting for an Experienced Manager with at least 15 years experience within the luxury yacht interior market to mange all project activities from inception to completion. The successful candidate will be responsible for:

Managing the Tender Department and coordinates to produce estimates, budgets and bills of material through a team of estimators and quantity surveyors.
Managing and coordinating shop drawings, procurement, purchasing, manufacturing, delivery and site installation.
Acting as coordinator for the Company when dealing with Clients, Subcontractors and Consultants.
Maximizing company’s use of assets towards project completion.Acing to minimize outstanding issues with Clients / Consultants regarding project tasks, work quality and completion times.
Managing, organizing and planning all areas related to dealings with Sub-contractors, programming and coordination matters of the Company.

Candidates should have a degree or equivalent in Civil engineering, Quantity Surveying or similar or should be a certified Cost Accountant.

They will be commercially oriented with 15 years of professional experience as a site construction manager, contracts manager, quantity surveyor or similar specializing in Interior decoration of either luxury yachts, homes or hotels.

Candidates should have strong experience in project costing and scheduling, preparing responses to proposals, bid preparation, and tendering techniques, contract management as well as procurement management.

Candidates should also be highly flexible & adaptable and have the ability and experience to work effectively with multicultural workforce as well a Have excellent analytical skills & communication skills

SALARY
