Duties:

MARINA ASSISTANT - SOUTHAMPTON, UK

The successful candidate, whilst reporting to the Town Quay Manager, will also be responsible for the security of the Town Quay area including the marina.

Principle responsibilites will include responding to marina customers needs in respect of vessel/craft requirements, carrying out marine pontoon repairs along with minor maintenance work. Main duties will also include monitoring and maintaining the vacuum drainage system, administration/office based duties as required, responding to tenants' requirements on an ad hoc basis and ensuring the ABP Health & Safety policies are adhered too.


The successful candidate will have 5 GCSE's A-C or equivalent, qualifications in Powerboat 2 and Day Skipper, recent small craft experience and confidence in boat handling along with experience of general maintenance activities, i.e. painting, minor plumbing & electrical work. Experience of VHF radio would be desirable as would a working knowledge of Southampton Water. Previous experience within a security environment would be desirable. The successful candidate must be computer literate, with office based experience, have the ability to communicate clearly & professionally when dealing with customers & public, and be a proven team player with the ability to work on own initiative.

The Clipper Ventures Fleet of yachts consists of 60 and 68 ft yachts and next year a new fleet of 70ft racing yachts will also be introduced.

This is a permanent and full time position. The successful applicant will be required to undertake general maintenance duties on all of our yachts whilst they are in the UK (inc. re-fit) and also during each of the 16 Clipper RTW Race stopovers in various parts of the world. The successful applicant must have a good general engineering background and must have a proven track record in the maintenance, repair and installation of:

  • Sailing Yacht navigation electronics/instruments (i.e. Raymarine)
  • Satellite Communications equipment (Inmarsat Fleet 55/FBB & Iridium)
  • IT systems onboard yachts including the repair of PC navigation computers and installation of software
  • Basic 12 & 24VDC electrical systems, batteries, chargers and generators

Hamble Yacht Services, part of the Ancasta Group, are currently looking for a qualified general purpose Boat Yard Marine Electrician to join their expanding Engineering Department based at their head office in Port Hamble.   The successful candidate will hold a recognised electrical qualification (or be qualified by experience), be computer literate with a solid understanding of all general electrical & engineering requirements within the boat yard.   The successful candidate must have recent and relevant experience within the marine leisure industry.

TRAINEE YACHT BROKER / YARD HAND - £15,000 BASIC - SOUTH, UK

JOB DESCRIPTION
 
Based at our office in Southampton, the role will involve meeting clients, taking enquiries and helping with the day to day running of the office.
This is a junior level position and the successful candidate will also be required to be 'hands on' - carrying out minor maintenance, moving boats in and around the Marina and occasional cleaning as required.


Candidates should have:

  • Good people and communications skills
  • Knowledge of/experience in the leisure marine industry
  • Posess Basic IT skills
  • Sales experience would be an advantage but is not essential as full training will be given.
Ideally candidates will live in the local area.

Reporting to: Managing Director


The main objective of the Sales Director position is:
  • Ensure that the company has a structured, clear and documented sales system which covers all faces of the sales operation.
  • To motivate, train, and assist the Sales Teams in all day to day sales activities.
  • To assist in formulation of annual targets in conjunction with MD and CFO and to ensure these targets are achieved or exceeded
  • To develop strong and lasting relationships with the Shipyards that SML represents, and to be involved with the MD in annual renewal of dealership contracts, dealer territories, stock commitments and other aspects of the dealerships
  • To develop new business where appropriate with other shipyards.
  • To work with the Marketing Director to formulate and implement campaigns, events, boat shows and other promotional activities.
  • To establish and provide guidance on company policy, business ethics, structuring of deals, negotiations, and other sales matters to the Sales Network.
  • To closely follow, and may be directly involved, on high value or strategically important deals.
  • To work closely with the service department regarding commissioning of new yachts, service policy in support of sales and after sales support from the shipyards.
  • To conduct 6 monthly reviews (or at other appropriate times) on results and abilities of the sales staff to help them achieve targets and adjust their status accordingly.
  • To recruit new sales staff (in agreement with MD,CFO) as required.
  • Ensure that individual staff (including support staff) are well managed, and have career development opportunities.
  • To provide management reports as required by management.
  • Brand Manager - Azimut Grande range. You will be completely hands-on with all deals relating to these yachts, regardless of who the salesman is.

Candidates must have:
  • Minimum of 10 years experience in the leisure marine industry
  • 3 year + in a sales management role driving a established brokerage team
  • Proven success in lead and taking charges of sales responsibility
  • Good knowledge of yards, yacht builders and designers
  • Self-motivation, dynamism and flexibility

  • Nautical Training onboard vessels under our Management
  • Developing a training plan/check list for the Deck Department in co-operation with the Marine Department and all other company Departments
  • Developing a reporting matrix for internal use; close contact with the Fleet Personnel, Technical, QSE/RRC and Training Department is required
  • Assisting the ship's command, officers and ratings by giving theoretical and practical advice and detailed explanations to the Deck Department on issues to be raised during the training sessions.

  • Master's license

  • Long-standing seagoing experience

  • Preparing and analysing budgets including costs relating to the implementation and improvement of the Environmental Management System
  • Interviewing of Engine Officers in accordance with the Company's requirements
  • Identifying training needs and carrying out evaluation of the overall performance of Engine Officers

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Applicants should have qualification(s) in Marine Engineering or in Environmental Engineering or a degree in Natural Resources Management  or similar.
  • Understanding of principles and sufficient knowledge of the latest environmental Rules and Regulations
  • Strong communication skills in English

Previous experience as C/E or similar position ashore will be considered an advantage.
