TECHNICAL SALES ENGINEER

A well educated, personable ,Technical Sales Engineer required for Poole based metal fabrications company. Established for over 20 years making a range of products that are well known in the industry. The position is to back up the Managing Director who does not have the time to follow up all enquiries and leads and to travel to meet all customers.

Some travel would be required to all parts of the UK and possibly Europe. Knowledge of AutoCAD and Solidworks would be an advantage. A good working knowledge of the industry and its people would be beneficial. Estimating skills, whilst not vital, could be useful, the candidate must be computer literate in the usual Microsoft packages.

We offer a friendly, small, office environment with a good team spirit. This position would suite someone who really enjoys boats, possibly fairly fresh out of college and keen to move on up the industry. Alternatively the candidate may be someone who has many years experience of the industry who just fancies a change ?

Our products range from Superyacht stainless steel deck equipment to fuel and water tanks for most of the UK's leading Powerboat Builders. We also produce architectural tube, fittings and railway carriage equipment in stainless steel.

We exhibit at several boatshows every year at which the candidate may well be required to assist. A flexible approach to working hours would be needed, as and when required.

TECHNICAL COMPOSITE SUPERVISOR

Due to ongoing development our client are seeking an experienced Technical Supervisor working for an established company.

The company is the specialist composite division of one of the largest dedicated composite components building materials manufacturer in the UK.

They provide quick and effective solution to composite component manufacture; in closed mould, resin infusion, vacuum bagging and traditional hand laminate techniques.

As a supplier to leading UK and international brand name companies in the Marine, Home Improvement and Construction markets, they have developed skills within both high quality precision tool production and volume component manufacture.

You will be joining a large fully equipped R & D facility for mould design and production and over 45,000 sq ft of production space dedicated exclusively to composite manufacture.

The main tasks of the Technical Supervisor to effectively and efficiently control and supervise the production and maintenance of all patterns, plugs, moulds and prototype components and to assist fully in the development and introduction of new production processes and procedures

As part of the company’s supervisory team the Technical Supervisor will be responsible for:
Technical matters as well as staff discipline, direction, health & safety, appraisals and working procedures,
The role will answer to the R&D Technical Director and work side by side with the shop floor Foreman as part of a close knit team.
The role would initially be part office based part practical.

Outline of Main Tasks:

Ensure research and development or mould replacement / maintenance projects are carried out in accordance with company operating practices.

Efficiently organise the R&D workshop daily activities, and to ensure that the correct materials, equipment and tooling are used to achieve the required specifications.

Work closely with the R&D / Technical Director on all aspects of the R&D remit with regular and accurate reporting where required.

Ensure that the R&D team is fully conversant with the company’s quality standards for product manufacture and that they are complied with.

Ensure that all finished products are timely and appropriately handed over to the relevant department, and to ensure that the relevant staffs in that department are aware of the correct procedures associated with these items.

Well developed and thorough composite materials & processing knowledge
Computer Literate - MS Word / Excel / Project / Outlook
Basic AutoCAD Skills

The company is growing steadily and needs a Project Manager to take over the refit operations and grow the business in this rapidly expanding refit centre.

Reporting to the Managing Partner and as a key member of a small core team you will be responsible for directly managing a number of refit projects simultaneously with appropriate support, and for developing and growing the refit business. Projects are likely to encompass all aspects of engineering; mechanical. electrical, electronic, hydraulic and the yachts employ comprehensive services; power generation, desalination, air conditioning and piped services, navigation and communication equipment. You should be professionally qualified with wide ranging experience and a proven track record in managing large and small scale, complex and intricate, mostly engineering, projects for demanding clients with very high standards - quality is paramount. Accustomed to run simultaneous projects you must be self-reliant and motivated and able to plan, organise and subcontract work as well as projecting the company in the quest for growth. The successful candidate will have highly developed interpersonal skills allowing them to relate professionally and sensitively to owner's, captains and crew as well as contractors and dock personnel. Computer literacy and financial competence are required and a good working knowledge of English and Spanish are essential.

STRUCTURAL DESIGNER / ENGINEER WITH SMALL CRAFT EXPERIENCE - HAMPSHIRE, UK

Our design team is looking for a Naval Architect or a person with similar education for a job in the UK branch.  You will be a member of an enthusiastic team working in close cooperation on all aspects of yacht development.  The position available will mainly involve structural design and drafting with opportunities to get involved in other areas of general design as and when the development schedule allows.

Our expectations
.    Education in Naval Architecture/Engineering.  YPD, Ship Science or similar.
.    Experience in analysis of GRP structures, production of laminate descriptions and detailed work drawings. 
.    Minimum 18 months design office experience.
.    Must be AutoCAD proficient.
.    Preferably experience with modelling in 3D CAD systems (We use Unigraphics NX). 
.    Attention to detail and a practical approach to problem solving.
.    Experience with designs in materials such as wood, GRP, steel and aluminium.
.    Knowledge of yachts and sailing is a 'must'.  Preferably you are a keen sailor like most of the members of the team.
.    Occasional travel to our Danish site may be required.

They are looking for a dynamic individual to lead this young department and take responsibility for managing day to day service operations both in the workshop and co-ordinate activities off site.

Based at Saxon Wharf, Southampton the Service Manager is responsible for the total day to day running of our busy workshop and currently 8 service engineers.

SENIOR SKIPPER

The Ellen MacArthur Trust requires a highly experienced commercial skipper, for a six month contract (April 2009-End September 2009).
In 2009 the Ellen MacArthur Trust will sail Round Britain with stopovers in 20 key ports. The voyage will be made up of 20 legs with a total of over 100 young people recovering from cancer and leukaemia sailing on board. Each leg will be linked to the Hospital where the young people on board were treated including a visit to talk to the medical staff, those currently in treatment and their families about the voyage. The trip is a unique opportunity for the young people now in recovery to communicate with those in treatment.

The successful candidate will have a commercially endorsed Ocean Yachtmaster and have extensive experience skippering commercial yachts. They must have a genuine interest in working with children and be comfortable in the corporate environment. This will be a high profile event and the voyage is expected to last four months. It is essential to have good communication skills and to be able to work as an integral part of a small team.

We will be running a selection weekend in October.
