SENIOR SKIPPER

JOB DESCRIPTION

The Ellen MacArthur Trust requires a highly experienced commercial skipper, for a six month contract (April 2009-End September 2009).
In 2009 the Ellen MacArthur Trust will sail Round Britain with stopovers in 20 key ports. The voyage will be made up of 20 legs with a total of over 100 young people recovering from cancer and leukaemia sailing on board. Each leg will be linked to the Hospital where the young people on board were treated including a visit to talk to the medical staff, those currently in treatment and their families about the voyage. The trip is a unique opportunity for the young people now in recovery to communicate with those in treatment.

The successful candidate will have a commercially endorsed Ocean Yachtmaster and have extensive experience skippering commercial yachts. They must have a genuine interest in working with children and be comfortable in the corporate environment. This will be a high profile event and the voyage is expected to last four months. It is essential to have good communication skills and to be able to work as an integral part of a small team.

We will be running a selection weekend in October.
