MARINE COMMUNICATIONS SERVICE ENGINEER - UP TO £32,500 BASIC (£EXCELLENT OTE) - SOUTH UK

Introduction:

My client is a world leader and is at the forefront of Technical Engineering services within the Marine and Offshore industry. They provide total technical solutions including Electrical Engineering and Telecommunications for the Marine, Offshore, Naval, Commercial and Super yachts market. Due to rapid expansion our client is now looking for a Marine Communications Service Engineer to be based on the South Coast.

The successful candidate will be required to travel to all the major ports around the South coast of England including Portsmouth, Falmouth, Bournemouth, Plymouth and Weymouth to attend to the Survey, Installation, Service, Commissioning and repair of a wide variety of Ship borne Communications and Sensors equipment at times and locations necessary to meet the on-going demands of their customers. On occasions you may also be required to travel to other locations in the UK.

Responsibilities:

You will be required to visit customer sites with the relevant tools and equipment in order to carry out the required task specified i.e. Installation, Service, Fault diagnosis, Repair or Commissioning.
Fault find and investigate down to component level in order to undertake appropriate action to rectify the problem.
Advise customer of impending high cost of repairs or delays as soon as possible.
Service equipment when needed to ensure that the communication systems prove to be working effectively.
Apply your proven 'hands on' technical background to ensure that all work is carried out in a timely manner.
Use your initiative to work out any improvements that can be made to the systems in order to make them more efficient.
Carry out necessary service reports and inform customer of equipment status upon completion.
Order parts needed to fully service/repair equipment and ensure that a follow up is arranged in order to install these parts.
Brief the customer on any changes you have made to their equipment and explain how to operate it.
Provide a good, reliable and cost effective service to the customer.


Applicant Requirements:

It is envisaged that this position will suit someone with a proven background in the maintenance and repair of Ship borne communication and Sensor systems including radar, antennas, satellite communications equipment, sonar equipment, Arpa radar and camera systems.
This a customer facing role therefore you will have excellent communication and customer service skills.
Proven problem solver.
Valid full clean driving licence.
Proven background within a similar technical role.
Able to work on own initiative as you will be working on your own.
Meet tight deadlines and carry out work effectively.
Proven Electrical / Electronic engineering background.
Strong attention to detail.
Proven ability to fault find and investigate down to RF component level.
Good working knowledge of navigational communications systems (NavComms).
Willing to work overtime.
Please note, This job is not your typical 9 to 5 as it will include unsociable hours and you will also have to be very flexible as you need to be on call to suit the customers requirements therefore may be required to travel at short notice.

SALARY

Up to £32,500 Basic (£Excellent OTE).

EXPERIENCED FIRST MATE

The Ellen MacArthur Trust requires an experienced, yachtmaster qualified first mate, for a six month contract (April 2009-End September 2009).
In 2009 the Ellen MacArthur Trust will sail Round Britain with stopovers in 20 key ports. The voyage will be made up of 20 legs with a total of over 100 young people recovering from cancer and leukaemia sailing on board. Each leg will be linked to the Hospital where the young people on board were treated including a visit to talk to the medical staff, those currently in treatment and their families about the voyage. The trip is a unique opportunity for the young people now in recovery to communicate with those in treatment.

The successful candidate will have a commercially endorsed Yachtmaster and have some experience skippering commercial yachts. They will work alongside the skipper and support them throughout the voyage. They must have a genuine interest in working with children and be comfortable in the corporate environment. This will be a high profile event and is expected to last four months. It is essential to have good communication skills and to be able to work as an integral part of a small team.

We will be running a selection weekend in October.

EXPERIENCED / TRAINEE RIGGERS

JOB DESCRIPTION

A successful experienced Rigger candidate will have sailing knowledge, experience and knowledge of rope splicing, talurit swaging and roll swaging as well as dressing and stepping masts. Some training can be provided if required in specialised areas.

A successful Trainee Rigger candidate will ideally have some sailing knowledge although this is not essential.

EXHIBITION & MARKETING EXECUTIVE - £20,000 - £25,000 pa - HAMPSHIRE, UK

JOB DESCRIPTION

The Exhibition & Marketing Executive is responsible for all Exhibitions for all TUI Marine brands (Sunsail, Moorings, Club Vass and Le Boat) in the UK. The position will also require assisting the marketing department across both on and offline with regards to new customer acquisition and customer relationship marketing (CRM).

This position will require close collaboration with all parts of the marketing department to ensure all opportunities are maximised for all brands. Full understanding of the brands and their products will be required.

MAIN DUTIES

EXHIBITIONS

Manage all TUI Marine brand exhibitions in the UK and occasionally in Europe
Manage stand planning, booking space and ancillary details, working with contractors where required
Co-ordinate stands build-up and breakdown
Help organise all aspects of the show including staff transport, accommodation and food
Manage exhibitions budget and keep control of spend within budget
Work with IT to ensure necessary systems and hardware are available at shows
Work with Operations Department to ensure the safe and effective display of all craft
Work with Sales Departments to ensure that all necessary point of sale material is on the stand
Produce individual post-show reports
Manage and maintain all exhibition graphics, furniture and material
Maintain accurate list of all exhibition equipment for insurance purposes
Manning show stands, representing the various brands, professionally knowledgeably and enthusiastically
Make suitable arrangements for the management of Health and Safety (including Risk Assessments where required) and that all appropriate legislation, policies, procedures and safe practices are implemented, managed and monitored to ensure the safety and welfare of both self and others
Ensure that boat show equipment storage costs for TUI Marine UK brands are kept to a minimum

MARKETING
Assist with producing all marketing collateral for events; including Flyers, POS, Competitions and Branding
Work with Marketing Department to maximise exposure prior to and during all shows through PR and Advertising
Work with other Marketing & PR Executive to maximise new customer acquisition via on-stand marketing initiatives
Working closely with the Marketing and PR Executive in seeking out and identify new marketing opportunities
Proactively seek out businesses to work with and build partnerships in order to acquire new customers and raise brand awareness
Work with travel agents business to maximise marketing opportunities though the agents business and build brand awareness of our active and afloat brand
Proactively seek out new business development opportunities.

CRM
To liaise with and support the Head of CRM in the development of all CRM campaigns, both on and off line
To support the CRM Team with the development of CRM Systems and initiatives such as the loyalty programme & member get member schemes
To Support the CRM team with any projects as and when required

APPLICANT REQUIREMENTS

A willingness to work as required, to fulfil the needs of the role, this role will including some weekend work and overseas travel in particular to Boat Shows throughout Europe
An ability to, or experience in, driving commercial vehicles to and from the UK and European destinations will be essential
Full, clean driving licence is required
Proactive and a Strong negotiator
A 'can-do' attitude
A knowledge of the TUI Marine brands and products would be advantageous
Strong organisational & administration skills
The confidence to work on your own initiative and as part of a team
Ability to work to deadlines and targets
Excellent attention to detail
PC literacy will be essential with experience of Microsoft word and Excel preferred
Confident and efficient at dealing with outside suppliers

SALARY

£20 -25k depending on experience
25 days holiday rising to 28

EUROPEAN SALES SUPPORT

JOB DESCRIPTION

HOLT supply to over 1200 retailers in the UK & Europe and to boat builders & distribution partners worldwide. The successful candidate will be required to work directly with these retailers, builders & distributors, assisting in the day to day administration of these UK & overseas accounts. You will also be required to provide support to sales in general, for Boat shows & other asociated activities.

You will be a motivated self starter who is able to work within a team environment, with a good knowledge of Dinghy and Yacht sailing, coupled with the ability to speak English & French fluently. The candidate will be required to manage & prioritise their own workload, whilst implementing appropriate contact with their customers, promoting HOLT product & growing sales through these accounts in conjunction with Account Managers. This aspect of the role will require excellent communication & organisation skills + a decent level of computer literacy; Word & Excel + SAGE, Microsoft Access. You will need the ability to produce accurate quotes and have the desire to work within a sales environment.

EUROPEAN SALES MANAGER (LEISURE MARINE)

JOB DESCRIPTION

We are looking for an enthusiastic and driven European Sales Manager with a fresh and tenacious approach to selling a premium brand to a diverse range of customers in the Leisure Marine industry.

Working within an established team and reporting to the Leisure Marine Sales Director, the successful candidate will assume responsibility for the account management of our European distribution network as well as the development of new business opportunities. You will be results focussed and measured on the achievement of quarterly sales targets.

EUROPEAN SALES MANAGER

JOB DESCRIPTION

European Sales manager position available immediately. Luhrs Marine Limited is the UK based European Sales & Service Headquarters and subsidiary of Hunter Marine Corporation, the largest US manufacturer of sailboats.

Previous experience required in either the retail or manufacturing sector of the marine or marine related industry. Must be able to work with minimum supervision and take personal responsibility for the sales growth of our European network.

Considerable travel for distributor development, boat shows, etc. including some weekends. Includes sales support of our existing network of 25 distributors in Europe, plus adding new distributors where needed.

Good computer skills are required. We're looking for someone who is willing to work hard and is challenged by growth. Our products are marketed as Legend Yachts in the UK and Hunter Yachts throughout the balance of Europe.

SALARY
