As an RYA registered training centre and with an AALA license we are seeking an RYA Chief Instructor.  Candidates should be confident with a wide experience of instruction at all levels and all age groups. You will be a well organized person with strong leadership skills and an entrepreneurial attitude. 

Reporting to the Club Secretary (The RTE Principal) you will be responsible for planning, marketing and delivering a full range of sailing and powerboat courses principally to club members.

Key objectives

    To lead a team of instructors delivering high quality coaching and instruction at the club. (currently some 290 of 2 ½ day courses are delivered in a 6 week summer block)
    To develop a range of courses and activities for club members to add value to their experience of the club, over the season
    To market and deliver sailing courses to non-members including local schools.
    To support the club's administration of its courses including managing applications and responding to enquiries.
    To be responsible for the maintenance of the club's training dinghies.


Qualifications
Essential        

  •     RYA Senior instructor,  RYA Race Coach Level 2,
  •     RYA Powerboat instructor .

Desirable        

  •     RYA Coach Assessor
  •     RYA First Aid Trainer


The post will be in the first instance a fixed term contract from April to October 2014 with possible scope for a winter role thereafter.

Remuneration will be by negotiation depending on qualifications and experience.

The role is mostly office-based but will require visiting customers/their vessels on site or around the Hamble area, beyond if necessary.

General Description:

    Lead development projects as instructed by management
    Provide technical support to production and sales departments
    Liaise on technical matter with component suppliers
    Produce, maintain and manage technical drawings
    Assist management in decisions relating to design and development
    Testing of products when requests.


Qualifications and Experience:

    An Engineering degree or equivalent within the industry
    Computer literate with 2D and 3D CAD
    General appreciation and understanding of conventional workshop power and hand tools

You must be proficient at liaising with clients at an executive level. The ideal candidate would be highly literate and articulate, confident and used to hunting new business.

The role itself requires an ability to multi-task - so organisation is essential.
