JOB DESCRIPTION

Our client is a leading UK Yacht Manufacturer based on the South coast. A new opportunity has come up for an experienced Design Engineer with experience in a similar marine company.

Main Aim/Purpose of Job

To assist in the design and development of projects new and existing, from modelling components through to producing fully resolved drawings to be issued to production. 

Main Tasks
  • To design and produce production drawings for various components and sub-assemblies for both new and existing projects, primarily using Siemens NX 3-D design software but also using Autocad 2-D as required.
  • To design, model and draught all aspects of boat design including hull, deck and flybridge fittings and their respective sub-assemblies.  Ensuring that all work is carried out within drawing office procedures and protocols.
  • To be able to communicate all design information clearly to others involved in the design and production of the project (working in liaison with the purchasing and planning departments).
  • To be able to work on projects as part of a small and focused team as well as issuing design information to tight deadlines with minimum supervision where required.
  • To produce drawings that are suitable for production, classification societies and formatted in such a way that they are suitable for owner’s manuals.
  • To continually strive to develop personal skill and knowledge in all aspects of marine design, to enable future advancement in both personal ability, and future, larger products
Experience
  • Experience of Design, Production / engineering using 3-D and 2-D design software.

Education / Training
  • Computer literacy is a requirement, with a sound knowledge of 3-D design software, Autocad 2-D design software and spreadsheet ability preferred.

This permanent, full-time position will be demanding and requires a reliable, hands-on, self-motivated individual, who is flexible and able to work evenings and weekends. 

CSC is based at Carsington Water. The Club operates from a Clubhouse, site and water leased from Severn Trent Water. There are nearly 1,000 members. The Clubs owns 14 powerboats,12 two handed sailing boats, 3 Catamarans and 30 single handed sailing boats. There is a strong racing and open meeting programme through out the year. Also sail and powerboat training is delivered through out the year by a strong team of volunteers.

SALARY

Salary will reflect the skills and abilities of the successful applicant but will be in the range of £25k to £28k.

Responsibilities to include:
  • Overall responsibility for reporting to the Board on the strategic direction of the Group's marketing activity.
  • Responsibility for creating and implementing the Group's marketing plans and schedules.
  • Management of multiple budgets.
  • Responsible for 2 members of staff (Web Content Copywriter and a Graphic Designer).
  • Lead on initiatives that increase traffic to the Group's websites and seek to constantly improve leads generated by the Group's web presence.
