Over the last few years Universal Marina has continued to grow, with the addition of another dry stack the marina is busier than ever. We are looking for an additional member of staff to join our energetic team to help us ensure that Universal keeps its reputation for being the best kept marina on the Hamble. 
The role is extremely dynamic and incorporates many different aspects of the day to day running of the marina such as daily marina checks, assisting bertholders and tenants, general site and building maintenance, site redevelopment projects and upholding site cleanliness. You will also be required to assist with our increasingly popular dry stacking facility by providing banksman duties and driving the dry stack forklift for which we will provide full training. A large part of this role is outdoor based in year round conditions. There is also some office-based work including booking in & taking payment for visitor berthing. 
The applicant should have experience in maintenance and a keen eye for detail, be able to work as part of a team but also have the initiative & motivation to complete tasks on their own. As the role is so varied the successful applicant should be adaptable to new tasks & resourceful in finding solutions to different issues. A knowledge of the marine industry and forklift licence would be an advantage but not essential. Must be computer literate with basic knowledge of Microsoft packages.
Some weekend work will be required on a rota basis.

Key Responsibilities 
 Day to day support of the OEM sales team
 Providing ad-hoc updates/information to customers regarding pricing, order status, tracking details and lead times and expediting when necessary, along with general product information
 Completing weekly updates (in customer-specific formats) of order status, which will involve meetings with the Production team, to ensure accurate information is passed back to the customer
 Creating quotes and pro forma invoices to send to customers
 Assisting in the picking/packing and despatch of urgent orders
 Offering basic technical assistance to OEM partners, including the provision of technical drawings
 Fielding a variety of sales calls that come into the office, seeing them through to resolution or handing over to a colleague as appropriate
 Assisting  with design and production of presentations for the sales team

Boat Club requires a Chief Bosun to manage maintenance and MCA coding across a range of sixteen craft. The fleet includes six sailing yachts, one motor cruiser, three RIBs, four open keelboats and two PWC.  Boat Club is a "Not For Profit" RYA Training Centre with a busy programme of year round sailing and power boating.
 
CHIEF BOSUN / FLEET MANAGER
The Chief Bosun's role involves managing and carrying out maintenance across the entire fleet of small craft. Of the fleet, the majority of the work surrounds the sailing and motor yachts. In addition to overseeing all maintenance the role involves being actively involved in carrying out some of the skilled maintenance (both preventative and reactive).
 
The Chief bosun, will manage two full-time bosuns and will also share some further staff with the Chief Instructor (shared staff fulfill both maintenance and instructing roles).
 
RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Manage and schedule maintenance of the company's fleet
  • Prioritise fleet maintenance to ensure staff and customer safety and the immediate operational needs of the company are met 
  • Task maintenance jobs to other staff and monitor their completion
  • Conduct appraisals for the full time bosuns and assist the Chief Instructor (as required) with the appraisals of shared staff 
  • Take responsibility for the coding and licensing of all craft 
  • Produce provisional budgets for all craft maintenance and inform the Director of non budgeted fleet expenditure
  • Oversee the recording of all maintenance
  • Manage the workshop and store 
  • Source and order replacement parts as required 
  • Carry out preventative maintenance and servicing
  • Carry out reactive maintenance as required
 
The Chief Bosun will attend weekly staff meetings and organise shorter daily meetings with the bosun team and other staff assigned to maintenance. He/she will liaise regularly with the Principal and Chief Instructor. Planning winter refits and scheduling servicing are key parts of the role. While there are various management responsibilities within this role it will involve considerable time, getting your hands dirty and working on the fleet.
 
This role requires a 5 day working week with occasional weekend work/standby work. The position could be an employed or self employed contract.
 
SALARY
£25,630 – £30,290 pro rata, depending on experience
