Our client is a leading UK Yacht Manufacturer with plans for expansion within their Design department. They are currently recruiting for a Marine Engineer with experience on Superyachts of 45-60m, to work in their busy Design team.

Main aim / Purpose of job

    * To be responsible for the design of all large Yachts systems.
    * Produce drawings and information suitable for production, classification societies and owners representatives.
    * The drawings must be produced in accordance with the production schedule.

Main Tasks
To be responsible for and update the existing process of information flow:

    * Technical specification
    * Build drawings
    * Build specifications (production instruction notes) Bill of Material Production Quality System (In process control)  critical checks Owners manual and Vessel SOP Boat Test Manual Classification Approval

Experience Required:
Five years experience of design (Systems and Engineering) on 45 to 65 metre vessels or three years as a Yacht Engineer on a 45 to 65 metre Vessel.

Education/Training:
Would ideally suit a Marine Engineer with experience in the design / production of  medium sized craft- leisure or commercial.

Scope of the role (Level of Decision Making and Problem Solving)
To be responsible for the systems design on our client’s large Yachts.

Responsibility for staff
Two design engineers who use AutoCAD and NX (Unigraphics)

Innovation and Creativity
Discusses and puts forward ideas for in order to satisfy owner’s requirements.

IN HOUSE PRODUCT DESIGNER (INTERIOR/EXTERIOR DESIGN) – SOUTH WEST, UK

The successful candidate will join a fast paced In-house Design Team on the development of current/new Motoryacht furniture, GRP mouldings and components. They will have the freedom to create exciting furniture and layouts within the envelope of the Princess brand, helping to move us forward as we continue to develop class leading products. They will work closely with Naval Architects, Engineering and Pattern makers to produce accurate 2D/3D drawings that they will then see through to production. Above all they must be confident and able to think fast on their feet and accept new challenges on a daily basis.

Key Skills

    * Design degree (Industrial/Product design) BA or BSc Grade 2.1 or above.
    * 3D CAD – A good working knowledge of Unigraphics NX or similar package is essential for this role
    * 2D CAD – AutoCAD
    * General computer literacy – Word/Excel
    * Good understanding of materials and basic properties GRP/Timber/Steels & Alloys
    * Strong awareness of mechanisms and mechanical principles
    * Strong conceptual skills – marker/Photoshop renderings a plus

Core Role

CAD/PRODUCTION ENGINEER - ESSEX, UK

As vessel capabilities and requirements expand, the design team needs additional support and structuring.  The full time Designer will work with the Owner Care Manager to produce design information for current production and future sales.

The role will include:

    * Convert owner specifications for each project into Production Documents and drawings
    * Producing 2D CAD drawings and 3D CAD models of craft and components showing engineering and construction detail
    * Review build specifications, develop equipment specifications, review and understand vessel systems and components


The candidate will require the following skills:

    * Experienced in small craft design and operation, particularly in commercial rules and regulations would be beneficial
    * Highly proficient in 2D and 3D CAD, particularly SolidWorks (we can provide Solidworks training for the right candidate with CAD knowledge)
    * Proficient in other business programs, for example MS Word, MS Excel and MS Outlook
    * Experience working within a fast paced production driven design office and therefore understand the need to maintain deadlines and prioritise completion of design tasks
    * Proficiency in imaging packages would be a benefit, for example Photoshop
    * Ideally the candidate will show a combination of experience in design and production combined with design qualifications.
