MARINE SAFETY AND QUALITY SUPERINTENDENT - £40,000 - £50,000pa – SOUTH, UK

Overall purpose of the job

    * To ensure the safe operation of the yachts under management and to provide an effective link between the Company and those on board.
    * To verify and monitor all safety and pollution prevention activities in the operation of each yacht and to ensure that adequate resources and shore based support are applied as required.
    * To ensure the yachts under the companies control comply with all requirements regarding regulatory, safety and environmental protection issues.
    * To monitor company activities for compliance with international rules and regulations, Company safety, quality and environment management system, business processes policies and procedures.
    * Provide expert guidance on the health, safety, environment and quality issues.
    * To develop best practices and implement lessons learned.

Candidates must have:

    * Minimum qualification of Class 2 (1st Mate) certificate of competency and seagoing experience as a Chief Officer or Chief engineer for at least 3 years on a commercial vessel or large yacht.
    * Degree in a maritime related topic, or equivalent professional time served experience.
    * Proven knowledge of marine health & safety and/or risk management
    * Self-motivated, tenacious and proactive in approach when dealing with problems and finding solutions.
    * Good interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to engage and interact with people at all levels.
    * Good analytical and problem solving skills
    * Proficient in Microsoft applications.
    * Proven experience in management role.
    * ISM Marine Auditor CSO and DPA accreditation.
    * Experience as a Superintendent in an ISM regime.

SALARY

£40,000 - £50,000 per annum
