SALES AND MARKETING MANAGER

Job Description:
We operate an informal and fun work environment where creative approaches and solutions abound, but this in turn requires you to take personal responsibility, be determined, self motivated and committed with a strong work ethic.  You need to be comfortable with working in a small team where we all make the coffee and on occasions be willing to turn your hand to whatever task is required and if necessary putting the business's need before your own.
This is a 'key' appointment where you will be responsible for spearheading and undertaking the sales and marketing for the business, working in close cooperation with the Managing Director.  We see this as an opportunity to take a leading role in our business and help carve your future career with us as we grow.
This is a 'people' business and so your ability to communicate effectively in both written form and vocally, and have the ability to quickly build trusting relationships with our clients and prospects through your personality and absolute honesty is paramount.  You must want to be part of a small dedicated and supportive team with the extra benefits that brings, as well as the responsibilities that this carries.  You need to have the attitude that 'nothing is too much trouble' linked with the ability to work in a logical, organised manner.
You need to be able to demonstrate a successful track record in Sales and Marketing in the marine industry, have a passion for sailing, know your way around boats, and therefore be able to communicate naturally, enthusiastically and knowledgably with  our clients.
You will have responsibilities for both our web based and print marketing activities as well as a primary role with sales generation through following up enquires, meetings and securing of sales.  Your work will help generate new opportunities as well as managing the existing databases and sales process.
You will help with the arrangements of the London and Southampton Boat Shows and will be expected to attend both shows.  You will arrange, promote and attend 'Open days' at regular intervals during the year and attend our social events in order to build and reinforce our customer relationships.  Some weekend working is therefore required.

Prerequisite Skills:

Proven sales and marketing experience in the marine sector
Exceptional communication skills reflecting this 'people' business
Motivated, committed with a strong team work ethic
Good management and organisational skills
IT literate with knowledge of word, excel and outlook
Some understanding of CRM systems and desk top publishing
A passion for sailing and knowledge of boats
