JOB DESCRIPTION

Our client is currently seeking to employ a Senior Buyer within their ever expanding team. They are continuing to expand the services that they offer on a worldwide basis, operating a fleet of dedicated geophysical survey vessels, conducting major integrated offshore projects on a worldwide basis.

The successful candidate will be reporting to the Group Procurement Manager and will be part of a team procuring a diverse range of marine products and services both nationally and internationally.

The role entails close liaison with external suppliers / manufacturers and internal departments to ensure requirements are met in a timely, efficient and cost effective manner.

The ideal candidate will demonstrate 

  • Procurement experience, 
  • Possess excellent organisational and time management skills 
  • Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office. 
  • The ability to work to tight deadlines accurately, often at short notice is paramount. 
  • Dealt with £100 million budget or more. 
  • Experience of implementing a new procurement strategy  
  • The person will be required to work with limited supervision, demonstrate initiative, operate as part of a team and have excellent problem solving abilities combined with the appropriate level of business acumen the position demands.


Skills and Experience required:


  • Experience and understanding of the full procurement process, owning delivery throughout it.
  • Experience of negotiating contracts with suppliers and partners and the management of complex commercial relationships.
  • Sound negotiation skills and a proven track record in delivering cost benefits, through management of the tender processes and by developing existing relationships.
  • Recommending procurement plans and strategies for Project and BAU requirements
  • Preparing detailed financial analyses in support of alternative purchasing strategies.
  • Managing the supply base to ensure delivery against contractual and commercial commitments and “In Contract” supplier performance and ensure business benefit is realised.
  • Source and recommend suppliers who are capable of providing technical solutions and equipment required
  • A thorough understanding or purchasing procedures and protocol.
  • Proven experience of the technical aspects of procurement, such as; tendering, contract law and negotiating.
  • Experience of working on high value, high risk, complex procurement projects/programmes.
  • Excellent negotiation skills and the ability to communicate with senior level stakeholders
  • Ideally CIPS qualified or equivalent experience.
