JOB DESCRIPTION
The Company

The company is a successful shipyard based in Dubai with an office in Doha-Qatar. As a company they provide a wide range of services across many sectors but focusing on the offshore and vessel support sectors mainly. They are currently in a position to be recruiting a technical superintendent for their Doha office.

The Role

The role for the successful individual will incorporate many areas with them predominately falling into the following categories

• Health and Safety
• Dry Docking, Overhauls and Major Repairs
• Supervising and Training
• Insurance and Budgeting as well as other management tasks

You will have to make sure that the vessel is in accordance with all the following regulations, flag state, port state, ISM, ISPS, SOLAS, MARPOL, MLC 2006 as well as making sure all vessels are prepared in time for class and statuary surveys.

The position will involve you having to put together detailed reports which can be submitted and presented to the operations manager and the technical manager, and then making sure that actions are carried out. The reports will have to be taken daily and monthly

The Candidate

The candidate must have been in a similar position for the last 2 - 4 years as well having experience on various merchant vessels, ideally with a chief engineer’s unlimited certificate.

• A degree or equivalent in engineering
• A valid certificate of competency
• Strong working knowledge of ISM, ISO, MARPOL, SOLAS, Col Regs, etc
• A vast understanding of mechanical and electrical engineering and ship repair techniques
• You will also need to be able to put together detailed reports of defects and none conformities.
• You will need to be able to freely travel internationally to the US, China, Mexico, Africa and Singapore

You will be expected to relocate to Doha for the role and that will be done at your own expense with guidance from the client if required.

Salary

36,700 - 40,000 pm all inclusive
