MARINE ENGINEERING MANAGER

JOB DESCRIPTION

Harwich Haven Authority is the Harbour Authority serving the Haven Gateway ports of Felixstowe, Harwich International Port, Ipswich, Harwich Navyard and Mistley.

Due to a planned retirement, we are seeking to recruit a successor to the position of Marine Engineering Manager. Supported by a small multi-skilled team based at our dedicated workshop facilities, this important role has responsibility for ensuring the effective maintenance of a fleet of workboats made up of pilot/harbour launches, oil spill response and survey craft. Additionally, there will be periodic requirement to provide input into the design, contract award, construction/fitting out and delivery of newbuild vessels to required standards.

The successful candidate will have an appropriate marine engineering qualification, with at least two years, post-certification, sea-going or shore-based engineering experience. They must also be prepared to adopt a 'hands on' approach when required. A working knowledge of GRP construction/maintenance and practical experience of marine diesel engines (up to 450 kW) and MCA small workboat maintenance would be an advantage.

SALARY
