PRODUCT MANAGER II - MARINE FIP AND ENGINE COOLING - HERTFORDSHIRE, UK

JOB DESCRIPTION
 
To provide technical product support, application assistance, and product training to sales staff and customers. Coordinate pricing and product rationalization activities. Champion products through the ITT Value Based Product Development {VBPD} and Value Based Management {VBM} process. Provide support and information required to design-in Flow Control Value Center products. Facilitate communication between operations, engineering, sales and customer service.
   
DUTIES INCLUDE
  • Ensure both the sales force and our customers receive appropriate levels of application engineering and solutions support.
  • Achieve targeted growth, profitability, and EVA by product line. Coordinate EVA analysis with the identified Value Center VBM champion.
  • Maximize the revenue and standard margin for the assigned product portfolio.
  • Manage portfolio, life cycle, and product road maps for the assigned product portfolio.
  • Propose cost improvements and coordinate costing recommendations with both Engineering and Operations.
  • Recommend, investigate and document new product opportunities.
  • Recommend and document product improvements and modifications.
  • Champion new products through the ITT VBPD process, including opportunity prioritization, completion of activities and ensuring new product introductions occur per schedule.
  • Conduct annual pricing and product rationalization activities.
  • Conduct, coordinate, and manage product launches, including the development of all Marketing Communications materials.
  • Travel to customers, as appropriate. Participate in industry tradeshows.
  • Develop or assist in developing strategies and tools to support selling efforts.
  • Maintain and evaluate WW market research on competitors, markets and technology trends. Maintain current intelligence on assigned products.
  • Develop and maintain key business contacts within the industry.
  • Assist with the development of technology road maps for the company and assist Engineering and Product Management in converting these roadmaps into new concepts and products.
  • Maintain both Sarbanes Oxley and ISO compliance processes and guidelines.
  • Job requires 25% - 30% traveling.
CORE COMPETENCIES
  • An understanding of FIP pump technology and capabilities.
  • An understanding of marine FIP pump system applications including marine diesel engine cooling systems.
  • An understanding of OEM business and market channels {distribution and/or retail}.
  • Above average communication skills for both internal and external sales application contacts.
  • Ability to perform complex work requiring a high degree of original thinking and independent judgment.
  • Above average skills in Microsoft Office applications.
  • Able to recognize new opportunities during visits with customers {proven record of new product initiatives that generate substantial revenue}.
  • Good working knowledge of internal design teams and their operation.
  • Demonstrated visionary aptitude with practical execution skills.
QUALIFICATIONS
  • Bachelor's degree in technical discipline (ME, EE, IE). MBA or equivalent is desired.
  • 6 years experience with knowledge of engineering principles and technical marketing/sales.
