JOB DESCRIPTION

Role Description
An exciting opportunity to manage the racing activities at Queen Mary Sailing Club including Open Meetings, Championship Events and The Bloody Mary. This person must have a passion for customer service, good IT skills and a keen interest in sailing.

They will also join the office team dealing with bookings for the Sailing School, Youth Group and dealing with Club Membership and visitors queries.

Reporting directly to the Club Secretary with indirect report to the Chairman of the Sailing Committee this is a great step into leisure management at one of the leading Sailing Clubs in the UK.

Job Description

Reporting directly to the Club Secretary with indirect reporting to the Chairman of the Sailing Committee

Responsibilities

  • Manage the Racing Calendar of the Club
  • Work with the Assistant Manager (Sailing) to manage the operation of Club Racing and Open Meetings
  • Production of racing results for Club Racing, Open Meetings and Championship Events.  Publishing results on club notice boards and website.
  • Manage the client relationship with external organisations to book events and training
  • Managing the Club Race Officers roster. Advise the Chairman of the Sailing committee of any issues relating to shortages of race officers or quality of race recording.
  • Ensure the Race Officer resources and equipment are always available
  • Maintain master templates for Notices of Race and Sailing Instructions and prepare draft Notices of Race and Sailing instructions for each sailing event or series to be agreed with the Principal Race officer and event race officer.  Ensure that the Notices of Race and Sailing instructions are published on time and that copies are available to competitors.
  • Manage the calendar of sailing events at the Club and keep internal and external calendars up to date
  • Ensure that external websites are updated with results and event reports
  • Ensure prizes are available and any perpetual trophies are returned on time
  • To manage the sales of clubs boats and brokerage for members
  • Administration - Manage the boat park, take bookings for courses
  • To operate and deliver TracTrac boat tracking service for open meetings and events, Handle front desk enquiries and Manage the Sailondon club email inbox. 
  • Coordinate protests and arbitrations
  • Attend Sailing committee meetings and produce meeting records
  • Set a high standard of customer service and monitor formally and informally

To carry out any reasonable request made by Line Manager or Duty Manager

Skills and qualifications

  • Good written and oral communication
  • Recognised higher qualification such as A' level's or B-Tec, etc
  • Sailing race experience (desired)
  • Power boat level 2 / RYA Safety boat / RYA first Aid (desired)
