Admiral Marine Management has been offering full maintenance and management services to a wide variety of yachts in the BVI for over 10 years.  Steady growth and a developing loyal customer base mean AMM are now seeking a qualified Electrician to come out and join the team in Tortola, in the British Virgin Islands. 
Oliver Alsop, the owner of the company, was born on Tortola but educated in England and returned to live on Tortola 16 years ago. He has a small team of skilled staff that handle routine maintenance for anywhere between 10 and 20 yachts at any given time.
The successful candidate will ideally have the following:
  • AMEI certified, Advanced NMEA 2000 network trained and have at least 5 years experience troubleshooting both D.C and A.C electrical systems and installing new equipment on yachts. This could include rewires, installation, repair and replacement of a range of systems on board. Knowledge and industry training of the major marine electronics brands would also be essential. 
  • An analytical mind who’s not afraid to turn their hand to anything – We cover both power and sail craft up to 40m of all ages.
  • Excellent communication skills, be self-motivated and have very good time management skills. You will be expected to talk directly with yachts owners and captains regarding a wide range of systems.
  • Able to work unsupervised and be able to discuss the details of the work being undertaken directly with the yachts owners and captains.
  • Though not essential, a working knowledge of other common systems on yachts such as mechanical, hydraulic, air conditioning and refrigeration would be a great benefit.
AMM also manages a 20-slip marina. The successful applicant will be expected to help maintain shore power services on the dock. They must also be computer literate and able to write up detailed reports regarding work completed and draw up estimates for work to be carried out.
You will also need a drivers licence, a clean police record and you will have to undergo a medical exam with your GP for visa requirements. The work permit will take six to twelve weeks to be processed. 
You will be expected to work 40 hours per week
