DINGHY/WINDSURF INSTRUCTORS - CHINA

JOB DESCRIPTION

Is the only sailing school in China offering courses to suit anyone following the RYA guidelines. Situated at 11th Aquatic Centre of Asian Games, we offer a variety of water-sports at a level to suit all customers.  We are recruiting windsurf and dinghy instructors for the 2010 season.  Applications from multi-skilled instructors will be given priority.

Here is an excellent opportunity to be part of a young and developing business.  There are going to be times when we are busy and times when we are quieter allowing time for travel and sightseeing.  Also you will need to flexible and be able to turn your hand to a variety of tasks, which will give you a broader experience of how a sailing centre operates. 

Our season runs from April to October, further employment may be available for suitable candidates.

The package on offering includes: return flights, visa costs, accommodation, catering and language lessons.

JOB DESCRIPTION

Job Title:        Watersports Instructor

Main purpose of job

To enable children and adults to learn how to sail/windsurf/kayak/canoe/raft build in a safe but fun manner.

Main responsibilities

1.    Running water-sports courses for children and adults, whether on land or water.  Assessing the skills in respect of awarding qualifications or determining equivalence.
2.    Running and supervising alternative activities whether or not sailing related, in the case of inclement weather or otherwise.
3.    Assisting on the beach and in the dinghy park with the rigging, launching, recovering, de-rigging and wash down of the boats, equipment and centre.  Laying & retrieving of marks and organizing races.
4.    Carry out boat, equipment and centre maintenance, in order that the equipment and environment is maintained in good order.  Keeping a record of damage to boats, equipment and the centre.
5.    Greeting visitors, whether in person, by email or by phone, attending to their questions, showing them around the sailing centre, generally being hospitable and encouraging people to learn to sail.  As required, interfacing with the local community to promote sailing.
6.    Carry out safety duties, including but not limited to operating a safety boat or watch tower.  Supervision of children, when unaccompanied children are present in the centre. 
7.    Watching out for potential hazards and risk in and around the sailing centre and either, in the case of an apparent danger, taking action immediately to address the problem or reporting the potential problem.
8.    Attending to sailing-related administration in a timely fashion, including but not limited to qualification records and certificates.
9.    Any other duties as directed by the Chief Instructor.
