A rare opportunity has arisen to join the team at Portland Marina. The successful candidate will have a love for all things boating as well as being an experienced BOAT YARD operative, they will also need to demonstrate excellent organisation skill and be self motivated for this customer facing role.
Roles will include all aspects of the boat yard operation including lifting and blocking of all types of vessels, organisation and maximisation of yard space as well as practical work on and around the marina as well as some office administration. An ability to adapt and turn your hand to many tasks will be essential.
Applicants for this position must be experienced in using a boat hoist and operating a negative lift forklift. Computer literacy, be of a friendly nature and be able to work both within a small team and individually are essential qualities.

- In conjunction with the operations manager and other ship managers, prepare operating budgets and forecasts for the vessels under own management, preparing estimates as required and ensuring any special circumstances concerning own vessels are taken into account.
- To monitor all expenditure areas of own budgets ensuring awareness at all times of actual costs and to keep expenditure within budget levels.

The department is continuing to grow and planned output production is scheduled to double in the next 12 months.
Candidate must have proven knowledge and experience in the following:
Implement and manage Process Flow Management systems
Be able to manage an efficient production schedule involving liaison with Operations and Purchasing departments
Proven knowledge and clear understanding of stock control and the principles of works order processing including manufacturing/assembly cost estimating.
Ability to manage and program schedules of work and be able to illustrate these to production staff
Ensure that work is produced within tight QA controls and show a practical approach to ensuring QA processes are implemented
Ensure that all recordable information is collated and stored
Manage all members of staff on different production lines
Display a technical ability to understand different methods of inflatable structure testing and assembly
Understand the processes involved in sewn products and develop efficient processes to ensure that product is assembled in the most effective manner

Be able to demonstrate a hands on approach to problem solving so as to ensure that production is able continue at all times
