JOB DESCRIPTION
Independent composite boat building facility in Hamble, Southampton requires an experienced Workshop Manager. Our client base is predominantly the Super Yacht Market, so the highest standard of workmanship is essential.
The successful candidate will be a self starter, able to work under their own initiative and run systems in a logical way. They will possess strong leadership skills, enabling them to carry out a wide range of roles to support our business ensuring our products are delivered to the agreed timescale, cost and quality requirements.
Experience in team leading and managing projects in a marine environment with the ability to manage and motivate individuals is essential, together with relevant hand-on experience using boat building materials for marine applications. Knowledge of hand & spray lay-up techniques, polyester resins, vinyl ester & Pre-Preg materials is also essential.
Duties will include:-
* Creation and implementation of project plans together with a risk management process to ensure no part of the build stage is held up unnecessarily.
* Support in response to project actions, liasing with all members in the workshop to ensure any problems are acted upon and office management are notified.
* Overseeing build teams and production line, whilst also getting hands on where needed.
* Provide assistance to ensure that project documentation is accurate and up-to-date to include conformity certification, paint codes, material samples etc.
* Stock control and purchase ordering.
* Provide assistance with cost allocation, and ongoing price comparisons.
* Ensure all health and safety procedures are followed and adhered to.
