JOB DESCRIPTION
The Company:
South Boats Special Projects is the major supplier of specialist aluminium catamarans used to support the installation and construction phases of offshore wind farm developments and the associated operations & maintenance activities.
Based in Cowes on the Isle of Wight, the Company is now set for a period of major growth (in excess of 30% p.a.) as it looks to supply the future needs of the burgeoning UK and European markets as well as other offshore markets around the world.
Job Role:
Reporting to the Design Manager, the ideal candidate will have design office experience gained within a fast-paced marine manufacturing environment with a focus on project-based support to production. The key requirement will be to create a package of information including drawings and bills of materials that can be used for class certification, production, purchasing and sales.
The Individual:
Relevant degree in small craft/ ship design - BEng/BSc-
Experience of production (preferably aluminium craft)
Good level of naval architectural principles
Computer literate - 2D + 3D modelling exp.
AutoCAD proficient
SolidWorks and or Rhino an advantage
Good Structural Design knowledge
Preferably experience in Aluminium boat building/design
Numerate
Good communication skills
Accurate, attention to detail
Practical approach to problem solving
