ENGINEERING PROJECT MANAGER - £35,000-£40,000 – SOUTH, UK

JOB DESCRIPTION

Our client is one of the world’s leading marine electronics and navigation equipment manufacturers. They currently have an exciting opening for a UK Engineering Project Manager at their South coast offices.

Purpose of Job

Facilitation, coordination, planning and management of the Engineering team development projects, processes and operation in general.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

This is not a back up or support role, rather a key and senior role driving the operation of the Engineering activity.  This person “makes it happen”, ensuring balance between time, cost and quality and with the goal of maximizing team performance.

The role can be broken down into a number of areas:

Project Management

Work like a Scrum Master (Agile s/w development) for the s/w development teams                      
Run daily scrum meetings
Manage sprint kick off and review meetings

Plan projects with agreed commitments
Ensure visibility of progress and risks

Risk management

Ensure risks are identified and managed
Minimize development risks by ensuring an intelligent and methodical approach to the design activity

Facilitation of the development activity

Manage the working environment
Manage the selection, availability and use of tools
Ensure sensible budget control

Process Management

Ensure our client’s processes and best practices are followed and understood
Prepare and control document creation aligned with our client’s processes.
Ensure Agile processes and best practices are followed and understood
Manage the conflict between and updating of processes and process related ideas

Performance enhancement and constant improvement

Drive lessons learnt activities and ensure delivery of chosen improvements
Encourage research and new ideas relating to development processes and the manage the change environment
Manage the appraisal process, training plans, skills matrices and look for team weakness and opportunities to improve individuals

Relationship building

Forge relationships with other teams
Ensure the involvement and support of other departments
Manage supplier / partner relationships


Department Specific Responsibilities

Ensure visibility of all departmental activities
Build relationships for the department

Department Specific Technical Requirements

Experience in the Marine industry beneficial
Interest in marine products beneficial
Experience of manufacturing and releasing products to production beneficial

Education and Experience

Project management experience and training
Degree qualified in a relevant subject
Business management qualifications beneficial
Experience of working with product and software development teams
Experience of Agile development processes beneficial

SALARY
