JOB DESCRIPTION

Clipper Ventures, founded in 1995, is an international marine events company promoting round the world yacht racing and is famed for the Clipper Round the World Yacht Race, featuring 15 individual races over 8 separate legs. The company also owns the rights to the professional solo round the world race VELUX 5 OCEANS, as well as running their corporate events division Clipper Events and world-class training programmes Clipper Training.

Clipper Ventures is chaired by Sir Robin Knox-Johnston, the first man to sail single-handed and non-stop around the world (1968 - 1969).

The role is to assist the Fleet Operations Manager in the care of the 12 70' Round the World Race yachts as well as the fleet of 68' ex-Race yachts which are used for both training and corporate events.

It will involve but not be limited to;

liaising with suppliers and third parties,
sourcing and purchasing equipment,
processing requisitions and allocating equipment,
ensuring all coding paperwork is kept up to date,
working with the technical team
liaising with the skippers.


There is also considerable preparation work to do for the start of the Clipper Round the World Yacht Race 1314 which starts on 1 September.

The position would suit a highly organised individual with the ability to work within a team but who is also able to take the initiative.  The successful applicant must be flexible and hard working with great attention to detail and good paperwork skills.  Common sense and knowledge of sailing yachts and their parts is a distinct advantage as is previous experience of working in an office environment.
