JOB DESCRIPTION
A leading Maritime technology working in the Commercial, Naval and Superyacht market are looking for a Controls & Automation Engineer to join their workforce.

This job role will require the successful candidate to;

-    Specify and design systems from a brief supplied by the Project Manager and take responsibility for the engineering component of the project through to testing, commissioning and handover.
-    Attendance at internal and customer meetings both on and off site.
-    Work to System and Sub-System requirement documents to provide control elements for larger systems
-    Program PLC and HMI/SCADA systems.
-    Assist with the development and assessment of new products.
-    Assist the service department to solve customer technical problems. This may also entail travel to resolve problems on site.
-    Travel worldwide to commission systems.



Candidates must have;

-    System design experience of analogue / digital monitoring and control systems.
-    Experience of PLC programming using IEC 61131-3 programming languages
-    Experience of Allen Bradley, Mitsubishi and Wago PLCs preferred
-    Competent in computer technology and Ethernet network experience
-    Experience of industrial communication protocols e.g. Modbus, CANBus, PROFIBUS
-    Some understanding of structured programming languages an advantage
-    Marine experience of ship systems especially power and propulsion control, chart systems, radar and communications desirable
-    Good interpersonal skills – able to communicate well with colleagues and customers.
-    Ability to work well within a team whilst at the same time demonstrating initiative and the ability to work without supervision
-    Prepared to work on site aboard a variety of marine vessels afloat and in shipyards.
-    Available for worldwide travel to any country.

Qualifications

-    HNC/Degree level in a relevant Engineering discipline, ideally with a minimum of 2 years experience in control & automation system design/programming.

Salary

£30,000 - £35,000pa

-    A performance related annual bonus is available based upon personal and corporate achievement.
-    20% uplift on salary is applied for hours worked travelling.
-    50% uplift on salary is applied for hours worked on site during the week.
-    100% uplift on salary is applied for hours worked on site at weekends and nights.
-    A contributory pension scheme is available.
-    Normal hours of working will be 37.5 hours per week Monday to Friday, however it may be necessary to work additional hours to meet deadlines or when off site.
-    20 days annual leave increasing 1 day per annum to 25 days plus statutory public holidays.
