JOB DESCRIPTION
The Youth Coach is responsible for delivering the training and sailing development of the Oman Sail youth sailors (8-18) within the Youth Sailing Pathway with a main focus on the junior racing sailors (11-15) and the Optimist class.
Responsibilities:
Supervise the planing of the youth program in conjunction with the Youth Development Manager
Oversee the delivery of the youth program at every level
Create the coaching plan and communicate it to the Sailing Schools General manager
Help ensure that training sessions are delivered to defined standards
Plan and execute coaching clinics to improve the level of the Race Club coaches
Lead the planning for the national youth squad from scratch following the established objectives created by the Oman Sail Performance Group
Cooperate with the fitness coach to create fitness and nutrition guidelines for the sailors to be communicated through the junior race coordinator and the Race Club coaches
Directly coach the youth national team sailors in Oman and at events
Work closely with the youth race coordinator
Facilitate coach education to the Omani Youth Coaches
Report to the youth sailing development manager
Skills & Attributes:
Proven coach with International results in the Optimist class
Good knowledge of English language
Proven management/communication skills
Track record in coach education
Coach to Laser 4.7 and Laser Radial (29er coach experience is beneficial)
Physical Education background will be beneficial
Willing to work weekends and long hours and willing to travel within Oman or abroad to sailing competitions and training camps
Enthusiastic, with creative spirit, able to overcome unexpected situations with unique solutions, willing to work within a cultural diversity community
