Superyacht custom tender builder, based in Hamble requires experienced designer to work within our existing design team.
– Liaise with concept designers and stylists to make the concept design suitable for production.
– Produce and monitor weight studies.
– Ensure that the design brief is understood and the tender will comply with build standards, is completed on time and on budget to the client agreed specification.
– Have an in-depth knowledge of composite production techniques and processes.
– Complete fabrication drawings and detailed technical drawings, to assist production.
– Specify appropriate hardware and parts for projects.
– Have a clear understanding of marine systems used within craft of this type.
– Produce basic engineering and layout drawings for pipework and cabling.
– Produce detailed tooling models for moulds, any boat joinery and engineering models.
– Be responsible for all design aspects of external supply chain.
– Work with a small and select number of external suppliers to produce outsourced parts to the correct standard (mainly custom metal work & upholstery).
– Ideally have considerable design and practical experience in semi production boat environment.
– A basic knowledge of photo realistic rendering software, would be beneficial.
– Management of sea trials and acceptance programs
The candidate will ideally have a naval architects degree or qualification in small craft design, as wells as:
– Have proficient skill level with 2D & 3D software Autocad, Rhino and Solidworks.
– Be able to work within a team of designers to optimise designs of tenders to specification and contracted requirements.
