Berthon is looking to employ an experienced yachtsman to join our team of 12 existing managers, to manage fast turn-around refits for yachts 50’ – 80’ in length. The ideal candidate will a proficient sailor, with knowledge of the operation of sailing yachts and motor yachts up to 80 feet. Marine engineering and/or yacht rigging understanding will be an advantage. The successful candidate will be organised, presentable and outgoing, with experience of dealing with wealthy yacht owners.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Following up enquiries from customers
• Pursuing sales leads
• Liaising with manufacturers regarding specifications
• Viewing boats to draw up technical specification
• Costing labour and materials
• Quoting customers
• Following up customers after quoting
• Obtaining signed orders & deposit payments 
• Scheduling work
• Managing labour, materials & sub-contractors
• Sea trials and setting to work
• Familiarisation of new equipment with owner
• Invoicing & the collection of payment
• After-refit service

 

Berthon is a family business, and we have no bank debt, investing continuously in our plant, machinery & infrastructure from our retained profits, not by borrowing. We own our 10 acre site and 8 acres of the river. Our conservative approach of organic growth has allowed us to weather the recession and we look forward to continued success and company profitability.

 

Salary
The position offers a good annual salary – Dependent on Experience, a bonus dependent on personal performance, plus a notional dividend based on the performance of the company.
