JOB DESCRIPTION
Rutland Sailing Club is seeking a manager, who will be responsible for proactively and enthusiastically managing the day to day operations of the club in a culture of achieving high standards, maintaining and developing the commercial aspects of the club and delivering a service which exceeds member expectations. The Manager will work with the Management Council to develop the facilities of the club and lead the team of staff and contractors.

The successful applicant should:

    Have strong administration, communication, management , interpersonal and organisational skills together with strong IT and report writing skills
    Be able to develop, manage and sustain effective working relationships with people at all levels both within and outside the club
    Be commercially aware with sufficient attention to detail to manage finance and IT systems.
    Be able to support delivery of the club's sailing and training programme with overall responsibility for the club's in-house sailing school and workshop department.


This permanent, full-time position will be demanding and requires a reliable, hands-on, self-motivated individual, who is flexible and able to work weekends, and as required occasional evenings. Personal sailing knowledge and experience is desirable but not essential.

Rutland SC is one of the largest inland sailing clubs in the UK with over 1500 members and a full racing and training programme for the full range of boats from Optimists to 27ft Keelboats plus an extensive open meeting and external training programme. We are one of only five RYA National Sailing Academies and the only one inland.  We are recognised as an RYA Training Centre, High Performance Club, Champion Club and OnBoard Club.

The club has its own in-house sailing school operating year round, balancing commercial RYA courses and in house training for members and club fleets. The club has facilities on-site including; a workshop, extensive club house with bar and catering facilities, a training class room block and chandlery.  Our on-water facilities include: 4 pontoons, 120 moorings, 11 rescue craft, 4 race committee boats and 2 workboats.

Salary will reflect the skills and abilities of the successful applicant but will be in the range of £24,000 to £30,000 per annum.
