JOB DESCRIPTION
Our client has recently been selected to become Canada’s West coast centre of Excellence and long term partner for ship building. It has received a multi-billion dollar grant to construct 17 ships over the next decade. They are investing $200 million into its shipyard facilities.

As the Submarine Senior Test Specialist (Electrical) you will be responsible for controlling, coordinating, monitoring and managing all resources required for the safe release of systems, testing and commissioning activities, Harbour Acceptance Trials and the execution of Sea Trials during submarine Extended Docking Work Periods (EDWPs).

 You will be involved in directing and coordinating a team of Submarine Test Specialists, Assistant Test Specialist. You will work with both unionized and non-unionzed employees.

Requirments

    A Diploma in Marine Engineering or a combination of experience and education which meets the specific skills required to be successful within this role;
    You have a minimum of 6-7 years related experience and have spent at least 4 of those years working on large scale marine projects involving diverse stakeholders;
    An asset would be if you possess a Marine Engineering Certificate of Competency;
    You demonstrate exemplary business ethics, integrity and honesty in all situations;
    You have high levels of initiative and have excellent analytical and problem solving skills;
    You meet tight schedules on time and budget; and you collaborate, coordinate and motivate your team;
    You believe in a strong customer service orientation with the ability to understand and translate customer needs into feasible work plans;
    You possess highly developed interpersonal, communication and negotiation skills; and,
    You are computer literate with Microsoft Office applications and have an excellent command both written and verbal of the English language.
