SENIOR PROJECT MANAGER

JOB DESCRIPTION  

Our client is established as a major refit yard, completing new builds; major refits and restoration works on a number of the large classic sailing and motor yachts.

They are recruiting for a senior project manager with significant experience in specialist refits and custom build yachts.

Having at least 5 years hands on project management experience overseeing complete refits from conception to completion you will have the ability and expertise to take on a variety of projects with little support. Working in the core management team you will be answering directly to the managing director.

You will have been involved in with various construction techniques; with a particular emphasis on wood and GRP.

You will be given total responsibility of all areas of the project including commercial aspects such as budgeting; cost control and liaising with the owner.

Ideally you will have local area knowledge of suppliers and contractors.

Key tasks include:

·       Running a project (building or re-building a yacht) from contact with the client

·       Planning the project

·       Purchasing materials

·       Organizing sub-contractors

·       Leading a team of directly employed men on the project

·       Progress and commercial success of each project

This can be an extremely demanding but rewarding job.

·       This position would suit someone with a background & familiarity with building or refitting yachts of up to 125ft and has already had experience of successfully running projects.

·       Discipline in mechanical or naval architecture would be ideal; however the right experience is key to success of this position.

SENIOR INSTRUCTOR

Reporting to the Watersports Manager, your main responsibilities will be to manage the delivery of RYA training courses and the development of an exciting new Sports Boat programme, utilizing the new fleet of J 80’s. This is to include race training, away days, and other corporate opportunities. You will also be expected to liaise on a regular basis with the University user groups to ensure a good working relationship is maintained. You will also work very closely with the other centre S.I’s assisting then in their role to provide outdoor education and recreation for groups within the education, youth and community sector, in line with the standards laid down by AALA the RYA and other National Governing Bodies. Centre S.I’s are expected to take on the role of Duty Manager on a rota basis.

The ideal candidate will have extensive industry knowledge. You will be given the opportunity to stamp your personality on the operation within a friendly, informal working environment. You will have effective training and supervisory skills and pay close attention to detail. You will be highly motivated and will have the skills to contribute to the development of the business. Working closely with centre bosun the post holder will have special responsibility for the resource management for the center’s Sailing & Powerboat fleet. JOB DESCRIPTION

Job Title: Instructor/ Watersports manager

Main responsibilities: Instructors and water center managers who will ensure customers get a great experience and who contribute holistically as part of a team.

1. Academy

a. Product Structure: Improve and customize the Learn to Sail and Learn to Powerboat course as per the need and level of the students (adults and children). These include dinghy courses as well as keel boat courses
b. Conducting the courses as per the schedule
c. Writing reports and feedback
d. Customer relations through the course to ensure expectations are met
e. Sourcing new customers - helping the sales team to talk to customers to sign up


2. SAILIENCE and SPLASH programs

a. Managing all on water operations: skipper, instructing, rescue, beach management as per the program design
b. Helping structure programs as per client need
c. Follow through with clients to get feedback
d. Helping the off water team with program operations
e. Helping sales and business development with sales pitches and client meetings


3. Club Select

a. Helping to structure and plan club activities
b. Instructing and taking clients on water
c. Helping sales and business development team during client interactions

4. Overall

a. Ensuring boats and equipment in good order
b. Report and feedback and adherence to processes
c. Client interaction and understanding
d. Ensuring safety and rescue standards

5. Additional: there are several opportunities 'off water' and candidates who can learn and contribute in any of these activities as a team would have preference. Some of these are

a. Business development support: presenting options for clients, helping with presentations and ideas, follow up with leads
b. Marketing: helping with marketing literature and programs, liasoning with the advertising agency, supporting promotional efforts, vendor management
c. On line support: web content development and design, blog and newsletter
d. Office administration: vendor development, office organization, data management, process administration
e. Customer service: helping with data systems and CRM packages
f. Event and operations management : working with and managing the operations of the programs

Essential:

Experience in a leisure sailing company
RYA Dinghy Instructor / RYA certified Keel boat instructor / RYA Certified Power Boating Instructor
Racing Experience Club Level (Keel boat or Dinghy)
Graduation Degree
RYA First Aid Certification
RYA Safety Boat Certification
Team player Interpersonal relationship skill
Result orientation

Desirable:

RYA Certified Coastal Cruising Competency
Any other relevant off water skills.

Competencies / Additional Information

Preference will be given to candidates with a working experience in a leisure boating company/ Holiday company/ Service Yard/ Sailing events company
Must have Good communication, Interpersonal and relationship skills.
Should be a strong team player, result oriented, resourceful, independent and enjoy challenges

SALARY


The season in India is from September to May and the contract will be for a minimum of one season. The duration of contract is mutually extendable.
We are looking for the 'right' fit and compensation will be commensurate with the experience and the skill set.

Freelance Sailing Instructor required to run Sailing courses to RYA Levels 1 and 2. To teach on a one to one basis and groups to adults or children from 8 years. JOB DESCRIPTION

Working with the RYA, we wish to appoint a Sailing Development Officer for dinghy sailing and windsurfing to develop the "RYA OnBoard" and "more adults SAILING more often" program.

Role: To work as a sailing development officer for a range of sailing clubs, centres, schools and youth organisations and to initiate more sailing opportunities for both young people and adults in the Berkshire and Oxfordshire areas.
