Based in Hamble, we are looking for a committed, customer focused but primarily technically skilled individual who can help take the business to the next level. The successful applicant will have a strong work ethic, be resourceful and personable and have a desire to be part of a dynamic business. Flexibility to turn your hand to a variety of tasks is key.
He/she will have the ability to work independently using good initiative, be comfortable managing a range of relationships and be a skilled multitasker. The successful applicant will report to the Company's Director.
The ideal candidate will have strong management and organisational skills,  but enthusiastic applicants with less experience and with the ability to grow into the role, will also be considered.
Purpose
Manage the efficient maintenance, operation and performance of our fleet, ensuring boats are seaworthy and that scheduled cleaning, restocking and maintenance duties are completed and unsheduled repairs are managed to maintain customer satisfaction and business performance. 
Key Accountabilities
Ensure boats are maintained to safe standard, are available operationally for all bookings and are presentable to appropriate standard
Manage an appropriate checking system to ensure appropriate logging of damage and faults.
Manage and evolve the current maintenance scheduling systems and processes.
Purchase efficiently the equipment, parts, spares and tools required to maintain the fleet.
Organise, supervise and monitor sub contractor work and to manage associated costs.
Manage the MCA coding process for any new boats
Skipper boats and conduct familiarisation and general sailing instruction.
Be on call for customer queries and available at short notice for emergency repairs.
Additional accountabilities
Assist with sales activity as required and appropriate, eg boat shows, trials, open days.
Generally assist across a range of duties as and when required e.g. general office duties
Experience required
Good understanding of boating, the wider marine sector and ideally the charter/membership boating sector
5 years relevant engineering experience with a deep understanding of boat engineering, operations and maintenance (construction, all systems, rigging, etc.)
Experience of purchasing and supplier management
Good network of marine contacts
Experience of working in a small business and ability to apply oneself to the range of diverse activities that occur in a small business
Skills required
  • Technical marine engineering knowledge of engine, electrical, electronic, deck, rigging and sail systems.
  • Ability to find engineering solutions to the varied problems thrown up by boats
  • Self motivated, high initiative and able to work without guidance
  • Ability to adopt a flexible approach and adapt to a rapidly growing business
  • Good interpersonal skills and ability to relate equally well across a range of people
  • Excellent organisational skills
  • Computer Literate – Microsoft Office applications and ability to use office technology generally
Desirable
Qualified to YM level (commercially endorsed)
