RYA Chief Sailing Instructor

Windermere School is an IB World and Round Square School stunningly situated in the heart of the Lake District.

We are seeking an RYA Chief Sailing Instructor for our Water Sports Centre, Hodge Howe. The Centre is located on the shore of Windermere, just 1km drive from its Senior and Preparatory Schools. The Chief Sailing Instructor needs to be well organised, inspirational and dynamic. They need to have had experience of instructing at all levels and with all age groups. They must be confident and a competent manager, capable of organising groups of all ages and directing the work of the other sailing instructors.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone to develop our centre of sailing excellence as part of a dynamic outdoor education team.

With a salary of up to £24,965 per annum, the Chief Sailing Instructor will be responsible for:

Leading a team of instructors to deliver race sailing and recreational sailing for the School and Summer School between 1st April and 31st October.
Delivering RYA awards from the Youth Stages through to Sailing Instructor awards; instructing students from Year 3 up to Year 13.
Entering competitive Sailing teams at National Level.
The delivery of RYA sailing courses during the School holidays.
Supporting the Windermere Summer School's watersports programme.
Ensuring the day to day running of Sailing sessions are safe and effective
Acting as Windermere School's Technical Advisor for Sailing
Making sure the boats and equipment are safely maintained

The role can either be all year or seasonal depending on the requirements of the successful candidate. As a minimum, candidates should be experienced RYA Senior Instructors, but a wider range of qualifications and, ideally, RYA Coach Assessor status will be valued.
