Royal Varuna Yacht Club is Thailand’s Premier International Sailing Club located on the Eastern Seaboard near Pattaya, one and a half hours from Bangkok. The club has world-class facilities and an infrastructure to support sailing in the Gulf of Thailand. Owing to its excellent facilities, warm weather good winds and ideal location, the Club hosts many local and international sailing events. The Club membership is a mixture of 500 Thai and international individuals and families. It is a very active club with weekly racing and social sailing activities together with an extensive sail training program for mainly international schools during the week and regular adult and youth coaching during the weekends. It is one of only two RYA training centers in Thailand.

Royal Varuna Yacht Club is looking to add to its sailing management team to build for the future.  It is keen to employ someone who is versatile and professional to lead sailing related activities ensuring high standards are met and the sailing projects develop in the right direction.  The opportunity is to lead,and manage the sailing activities to build on the training and racing activities at the club and in the area. Depending on qualifications and ability, the role may include being either the Chief Instructor or Principal for the RYA Training Centre.

It’s an exciting opportunity for a capable and enthusiastic person working in a fun but professional environment. You should be keen to actively support events and instruction on the water and also want to be involved with the operations side of managing an active sailing center which also hosts international events. You will be measured by your success in the overall management of sailing activities.

The position is for an initial six months contract starting in August/September with the view to extend further. 
 
Required qualifications and skills:
  • RYA Senior Instructor (minimum) with good racing knowledge and experience.
  • Successful track record in managing marine operations, preferably in a sailing school environment.
  • Experience with special event logistics and international race management.
  • Ability to successfully maintain the operations and maintenance of 55 club boats and 8 ribs.
  • A mature and mentoring personality with excellent communication skills.
  • You must be flexible with working hours and able to travel within Thailand.
