A leading supplier dealing in Maritime Technology to the commercial industry are looking to expand their workforce, they are now looking for an Engineering Services Manager.

This is a very exciting position for the ideal candidates offering a competitive salary and benefits.

The Engineering Services Manager will have responsibility for the planning, management, development and delivery of technical services within the company and to a wide ranging UK and International base of Commercial and Naval customers.

They will be expected to implement plans for continued improvement, implement measurement milestones and manage department budgets whilst meeting contractual targets. Strong motivational skills, proven leadership and organisational discipline in a dynamic working environment are required.

They will manage all aspects of the engineering services team, co-ordinate engineering activities, deliver technical services to internal customers, manage and refine process controls, refine documentary controls, offer advice for improvement, determine staff requirements, mentor employees, and evaluate operational effectiveness.

The successful candidate will be responsible for a department which provides project engineering support, site services, product support, assembly and test services to the company and external customers.

The Engineering Services Manager will have preferably;

Degree qualifications in Electronic / Electrical Engineering
An appreciation of engineering technologies
A highly developed and familiarity with PLC / SCADA based systems
Use of industrial software applications
Experience in electrical and electronic design processes
Ability to demonstrate strong problem solving skills
Be able to show initiative, and provide effective direction to a large technical team.

They will be;

Supporting projects, making detailed plans to accomplish goals and directing the integration of technical activities
Conducting system design reviews and approvals process for commercial systems
Accountable to sign off of departmental engineering documents, specifications, reports, and department expenses
Ensuring full and proper completeness of systems prior to FAT or delivery to customers
Enforcing company policies and compliance with ISO and other standards
Administer documents and systems access, revision control, and master document integrity
Participating in business and strategic planning process
Ensuring cost effective delivery of engineering services to “internal customers” meeting agreed budgets and targets
Integrating and developing overseas partner and Inter- Business Unit capabilities to meet strategic aims
Complying with Servowatch Code of Business Conduct and Ethics, and corporate authorisation guidelines

The Manager will also need to Support Project Managers in maximising manpower efficiency and output, Seek, develop, and promote a continuous improvement philosophy, Mentor employees in corporate responsibility, Identify training programmes and facilitate personal development plans, Establish and implement short term and long term organisational goals, Monitor and evaluate operational effectiveness, Lead department toward common goals and values in line with company vision.

The Manager will need Leadership skills to;

Provide direction and orient employees towards roles and responsibilities
Establish norms and develop a team environment
Implement change and innovation effectively
Determine staffing requirements and work schedules based upon programmes plans and goals
Represent the department at strategic meetings

The Manager will need People Skills to;

Manage personnel relations and human resource issues within the department, such as disciplinary actions, recruitment and promotions
Determine staffing requirements and work schedules based upon programmes plans and goals
Communicate company plans, policies, and procedures to employees on a regular basis
Provide guidance and direction to subordinates, including setting performance standards, goals, and monitoring performance
Ensure all people are treated with mutual respect and foster teamwork

Competencies;

Knowledge of the practical application of engineering science and technology in a marine environment
Ability to apply principles, techniques, and procedures to work processes
Knowledge of PLC and SCADA based products, configuration management, systems design process and integrated product development principles
Knowledge of business and management principles involved in strategic planning, resource allocation, and departmental co-ordination
Strong deduction and problem solving skills
Strong oral and written skills
Strong time management skills
Knowledge of MS Office products such as Word, Excel, Outlook, Project and other technical platforms such as AutoCad Electrical and Solid Works
Have strong self motivation and able to work on own initiative
Must be a strong team player


Qualifications;

Degree in Electronic / Electrical Engineering
Minimum 7 years experience with 4 years direct reporting personnel in a dynamic engineering environment
Experience in electro / mechanical systems design
Experience in PLC / SCADA design

Salary

£45,000 - £50,000pa
