JOB DESCRIPTION

Our client is a renowned sailing club in the heart of a picturesque harbour in the South of the UK. The club has a very active member base that takes part in regular racing, cruising as well as the junior programmes.

This well established sailing club is looking to recruit a sailing manager, who is going ensure the sailing and other services are of a high quality. The candidate will have to report to the Officers, General Committee, Secretary, visitors and staff. The work will entail you liaising with the rear commodore sailing and secretary to develop and maintain the rolling regatta and event programme.

The job will entail the candidate to carry out the following duties.

Supporting the secretary and rear commodore sailing in coordinating and delivering the core sailing programme and open events, including planning, budgeting and provision of resources.
Providing a service to club sailing events including publicity, notice of race, sailing instructions, organising “on the water” and “off the water” support, publication of results.
Planning and overseeing the programme of maintenance to club equipment, currently including 9 support boats, 4 sailing dinghies and 4 tenders, VHF, Radios 
Providing a race day service, including liaising with race officers, issuing race bags, equipment and radios, etc., providing safety briefs as required and supervision of support boat crews.
Ensuring the sailing related risk assessments and method statements are maintained up to date.
Managing the hire/use of club boats by members.

As an ideal candidate you will have knowledge/experience in the following areas

 Knowledge and experience of racing rules, race management and all their complexities.
Management experience within the leisure marine industry. (ideally operations management) 
Knowledge of risk assessments
Ideally a powerboat or sailing senior instructor qualification but must have a minimum of powerboat level 2
Has an understanding of the Microsoft operating suite.
The ability to work under pressure, using your own initiative, be proactive and be able to keep detailed and accurate records.
Experience in budget management, staff management and motivation (ideally with volunteers).  

Our client asks for the successful candidate to work Thursday to Monday during the months of April to November, and Monday to Friday during off peak times. They ask for you to be flexible with the hours you are expected to work, and you will get time off in lieu.
