JOB DESCRIPTION

My client has an exciting opening as part of their plans to take forward their Mechanical Design capabilities. They offer both established and bespoke systems to their customers using a strong base of design and customer-focussed Project Management.  This position will appeal to a driven, self-motivated Engineer with a passion for design and the ability to take a product right through from conception to manufacture.

Key Responsibilities

To lead the company design activities.
To develop new products and apply the company’s policy of continuous improvement of its existing products.
To grow strong relationships with customers with regard to product specification, design & development.
To produce commercial proposals for submission to customers.
To play a lead role in the company’s growth.


You must be qualified to degree level or equivalent in a Mechanical Engineering discipline. You will have previous experience in the design of mechanical systems and /or components for manufacture.
You must have experience of product development and improvement, with an excellent understanding of supporting technologies such as materials performance and stress analysis. You will be able to perform calculations and analysis to predict system and product performance.

You will possess excellent communication skills with the ability to interact easily and effectively, developing relationships at all levels. You will be able to work cooperatively and productively with others to ensure planning, technical integrity and successful completion of projects.

You will have a good working understanding of manufacturing operations including the supply chain & other relevant specialist manufacturing processes.

You will have excellent IT skills including experience of 2D CAD software.

You will be able to manage work in accordance with project cost, timescale and quality targets.

You will have an interest in how to integrate electrical controls and hydraulics into mechanical systems.
