JOB DESCRIPTION


A Maritime technology company based in the South East, UK are in need of a skilled Service Engineer to join their workforce.

Service Engineer;   

Based in the company’s engineering department and reporting to the Service Manager.
Service and repair and commissioning of all the companies products in house and on site worldwide.
Assist project engineers with preparation and testing of new system and with the preparation of technical proposals.
Assist with the development and assessment of new products.
Undertake a customer service role assisting existing customers with technical problems.
Create Test and Acceptance Documentation.
Create System Operator and Maintainer Manuals.
Work with the drawing dept. to produce a range of drawings ranging from system block diagrams to electrical schematics.
Create accompanying engineering documents including parts list and cable schedules.
Attendance at meetings with customers and other departments on and off site.
Travel worldwide to commission new build, refit and upgrade systems.


Ideal candidates will have a minimum HNC level in a relevant discipline; ideally with a minimum of 1 years’ experience of control and automation systems in a field service and/or commissioning role.

The Service Engineer should;

Have experience of analogue / digital monitoring and control systems and associated I/O hardware.
Have Experience of serial communications, Canbus, Modbus etc.
Have experience in the use and maintenance  of PLC’s; All or some of:  Rockwell, Mitsubishi, Wago
Be experienced and competent in computer technology and Ethernet networks.
Have some understanding of structured programming languages would be an advantage.
Have experience of ship and marine systems e.g. power and propulsion control, chart systems, radar or communications an advantage.
Have Good interpersonal skills – able to communicate well with colleagues and customers.
Have an ability to work well within a team whilst at the same time demonstrating initiative and the ability to work without supervision.
Be prepared to work on site aboard a variety of marine vessels afloat and in shipyards.
Be available for worldwide travel to any country sometimes for extended periods and at short notice.
Be capable of obtaining security clearance.
Have a current passport and be available to travel.

Salary

£20,000 - £25,000pa   

A performance related annual bonus is available based upon personal and corporate achievement.
20% uplift on salary is applied for hours worked travelling.
50% uplift on salary is applied for hours worked on site during the week.
100% uplift on salary is applied for hours worked on site at weekends and nights.
A contributory pension scheme is available.
Normal hours of working will be 37.5 hours per week Monday to Friday, however it may be necessary to work additional hours to meet deadlines or when off site.
20 days annual leave increasing 1 day per annum to 25 days plus statutory public holidays.
