JOB DESCRIPTION
Gill is the only purely technical marine clothing brand and we are proud of this fact. Everything we produce is for on the boat use - all of it designed and manufactured to perform even in the toughest of conditions.
We require an experienced Sportswear Product Developer with creative design skills and experience of delivering a garment all the way through to production stage.
This is a Full-Time, Permanent appointment and will be based at our Head Office in Long Eaton, Nottinghamshire.
Your primary responsibilities will be researching and presenting first concepts, sourcing & developing fabrics & trims and working closely with suppliers in the development of finished garments.
Other responsibilities:
- Working to a product brief and target price points.
- Conducting design research by visiting trade fairs, exhibitions and retail customers.
- Production of detailed CAD illustrations and product specifications.
- To develop all aspects of the product from care labels, to checking lab dips and
- Creation of packing specifications.
- Working with our Garment Technologist to help resolve fit issues, organise size trials,
- Grade garments and formulate size specifications.
- Must work to the critical path for each season's collection and meet agreed timelines.
- Assisting with development of colour palettes.
Key skills/attributes:
- Computer literate in Adobe Illustrator, Adobe Photoshop, Microsoft Excel, Word and Outlook.
- An understanding of waterproof and/or performance garment construction would be useful.
- Good attention to detail is essential.
- Excellent communication skills are vital, as you will be required to work closely with our marketing and QC teams as well as Far East manufacturers.
- Must be fluent in written and spoken English.
- An enthusiastic, self-motivated and positive personality.
- An interest in sailing, water sports or outdoor activities would be an advantage.
- Design qualification to degree level or equivalent.
- Relevant commercial experience.
