JOB DESCRIPTION
Purpose of the Job
 To organise, manage and develop workshop and service teams in line with the company’s values and vision of delivering high quality, professional, effective technical services to our customers. Fulfilling this role will require supporting engineering staff both on and off site along with dedication, resourcefulness, organisation and great communication skills.

Roles & Responsibilities
Technical

• Develop, manage, organise and control an efficient mechanical engineering workshop including the management of Engineers and Apprentices
• Ensure all staff are correctly briefed with relevant job packs, strip lists, measurement sheets, reports and other documentation as required
• Manage, plan and control planned mechanical maintenance
• Manage unplanned work resulting from breakdown and emergencies, making sure they are dealt with in an efficient manner by prioritising as required and supporting the provision of a 24 hour callout service
• Be first point of contact for all engineers when they are in the workshop, or on client’s sites
• Responsibility for tooling to include maintaining a register of all workshop tools and equipment
• Develop and manage reports and statistics to ensure efficiency at all times
• Approve job sheets, clock cards, time sheets, strip lists and other time and spares records to ensure the correct allocation of time and materials have been recorded
• Help engineers carrying out production work in the workshop and on client’s sites if required.

Health and Safety

• Ensure all personnel comply with the company’s Health & Safety Policies maintaining safe working practises and procedures
• Perform and record routine safety inspections on equipment
• Attend H&S meetings representing the work shop
• Ensure workshop personnel have all consumable items and PPE to operate

HR

• Manage staff working times to ensure appropriate cover at all times
• Conduct reviews and disciplinary meetings with engineering team as required.
• Develop training programmes and encourage a collaborative learning environment

Requirements

• Good practical medium speed diesel engineering background with experience in marine or offshore sectors
• Extensive engineering service background
• Proven leadership experience with the ability to get the best out of a team
• Passionate about Customer Service and the highest standards
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, engine manuals and instruction books.
• Ability to apply engineering knowledge for new projects.
• Must be flexible to take on additional tasks to assist company.
• PC literate
• Team player
